It is a general approach and will vary depending upon what is being studied. It is an error to think that everything, or perhaps anything is "written in stone". An inquiring mind finds that out rather early.

If you want to claim that someone is "spiritually discerned" you would first have to define the term and second support the claim with evidence. The Bible is not evidence, the Bible is the claim. And let's watch the Ninth Commandment.

Those verses are about how people who "deny god" are horrible and deserve punishment (or rather how God will force them to do horrible things so they can be executed for their perversions). It doesn't have anything to do with creationism or evolution or science, but rather the people they are interacting with. Some of these conversations would be different if everyone didn't have a faith label, then people like us would just be "science guys".

I dig out Romans 1:22 that says that those who profess themselves to be wise (that's what "Homo sapiens" means), run the risk of becoming atheists.

1. So this is why I "love" bible quotes sooooo much. This verse isn't even a whole sentence. It's really weird to me. I didn't even get the reference to "chapter & verse" that people would use in a secular context for a very long time 'cause we didn't do religion by quoting single verses.

2. This verse is about "fools". If you used more of the text, it would be clear that the "fools" are those that "know God" and reject it. This is the same as Satan and his rebel angels, but it is not atheists. We're people who don't believe god exists at all. It is very difficult to know and reject a being that we don't think is real.

If I knew god, I wouldn't be an atheist. (But I probably wouldn't be a follower.)

I've always found it mystifying why some Christians resort to that. If the goal of Christians is to try to win souls for Christ, weaponizing the Bible in that manner is the opposite of that.
