Actually I think I pronounce most of the worlds ok, but Rosetta stone is just picky.

Saan = where
Kailan = when

?
What is the word for why?
I'm still trying to understand the basics.

Saan ka magulang = Where are your parents? or do I say
Saan mo magulang?

ka na = are you ..?

nagugutom ka na? = are you hungry? Can I use ka na for other things?
Malamig ka na?

So basically what I practice outside what rosetta stone is teaching me.. my "self taught" nonsense by manipulating the words.. I must have some pretty broken sounding tagalog. If I spoke like that would you get an idea of what the heck I was saying, or is it too broken to understand?

No, I have an english bible.

And I'm a true born Filipina, I've studied the national language and some vernacular languages since I was born.

They'd have a hard time understanding. Especially if you're planning to do your missionary work in slum areas, because not all people there went to school. Some might misunderstand too. Continue studying the language though.

Sure am, I think the burger king manager around here is a filipino. I'm going to try and become buddies with her so I can practice with a person instead of having to drive 2 hours to the closest filipino food restaurant attempt there. practice makes perfect I guess, but there isn't exactly a huge filipino population around here. lol

yes, you need a personal tutor.

It is a lot different than english that is for sure. I got a feeling I'm going to be pretty weak in the language whenever I get over there.

but now with it introducing the other numbers I find a logical curiosity.

isa =1
dalawa = 2
tatlo =3
apat = 4

.. well you get the idea
the multiple of tens though

sampu -10
dalawampu = 20
tatlumpu = 30
and so on..

I would do more but I can't remember the spelling lol.

but dalawampu = 20.. dalawa = 2. that makes sense to me. isa = 1 sampu= 10?? I guess it is one of those there just because things?

I am not expecting a filipino linguistic master to answer this, but I just find it odd and inconsistent.

"Kayumanggi" pertains to the BROWN skin color.
As for the color brown we use "kulay tsokolate" which means "chocolate colored".

Tsokolate = chocolate hahaha cute right?

For dirt or soil, we have our own equivalent words for those.

Dirt = dumi
Soil = lupa

What exactly is the difference between
mabuti nama po ako
and
mabuti naman ako?

po or Opo is used when you're being respectful.

"Mabuti naman po ako" and "mabuti naman ako" both mean the same.

Opo/po - when addressing people older than you, usually parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents etc.
