Vengeance and justice are not the same thing!! Vengeance and revenge are closer in meaning. Justice is ours to ask for--vengeance is God's.

Revenge is a form of justice usually assumed to be enacted in the absence of the norms of formal law and jurisprudence. Often, revenge is defined as being a harmful action against a person or group in response to a grievance, be it real or perceived. It is used to right a wrong by going outside of the law. This is because the individual taking revenge feels as though the law will not do justice. Justice is someone brakes your arm, their arm is broken---vengeance (revenge) is your arm is broken, you hunt them down, break both arms and legs.

The two words that were said to be related were vengeance and justice. It was just noted that the above two words would be much closer related than vengeance and justice.

Because our Lord tells us not to avenge. That vengeance is His. We know justice comes through God's righteous justice, not through our feelings or actions. We are not just or righteous.

Really??? All those bible quotes and you get man's wisdom-------of course you do!! Sure looks like bible wisdom though!!! God says we are to use justice in our dealings----but vengeance is His---as tobeloved said--vengeance and justice are not related anywhere nearly as close as vengeance and revenge!! The bible uses those two interchangeable, but not justice and vengeance.
