Wow!

I was surprised at who left...
Chicken!
I thought that player had more potential staying power.

I think this is the reason
I think he got all pouty and bitter when they didn't value and respect him at the start ... this lead to a resentful refusal to give his advice even when asked.

OK, well now I'm cheering for Denise and James!

They'll probably have the full episode available on the CBS web site shortly.

It felt like a worship ceremony to me too. The Buddhist guy actually pulled Courtney's hands back up into a praying position when she let them slack a little. So hands have to be praying and you have to bow down to Buddha. But it's not worship!

I was sorry to see Chicken go. I thought he could have been a very interesting character, sort of a combination of Big Tom and Clay.

James is absolutely incredible. I think I am rooting for him more than anyone else now.

The professional poker player with the French sounding name -- big jerk.

SavedSis, watch it on CBS.com!

Watch it on the web!

I think that Jeff should have given a bit more detailed on what exactly the "opening ceremony" was all about. Because it seemed very much like a worship ceremony to me.
I agree, that disclaimer didn't convince me at all.

Yes and no. Worship is really a matter of the heart, mind and soul. What you do with you body can aid in it, but alone does not constitute "worship". God looks inside the heart. One could easily go through the motions without believing anything regarding Buddism just like Christians can go through the motions without really believing what it represents. That said, Leslie was free to do as she wished. Being cheeky, I probably would have done what they requested while exclaiming, "thank you, Jesus for bringing me here to show your love to these people.....I ask you to bless them....." I bet it would have ticked off the producers! I'm sure they would have edited it out.:D

You can put your hands together without actually praying. Look, I'm not defending what was done. If anything, it appears to me to be a set-up to see how the survivors would react, especially a Christian. I just think Leslie took the bait, unfortunately. Playing along with it or doing her version would have turned the table on them.:p

Me too! It looked more like the young-folk kicking out the older dude. He wasn't a team player and that cost him. Too bad becaue he was so colourful.

James is absolutely incredible. I think I am rooting for him more than anyone else now.

If he's the gravedigger, I like him too. He's so sweet and humble, at least now.

Overall, I thought last night was boring. I hope it's not a sign of how the season will go. Sometimes it takes me a while to warm up to the characters and see how the alliances form. I'll just wait and see. But I don't think any season has been more hyped than this one.

Seemed like a very interesting show this year! I have to admit I watched the first season of Survivor, and the second, but that's it. I just lost interest after the rest. But this version in China caught me up again. And now I can't really believe we are on the /15th/ season?! Has this really been on for 15 years? Or is that off base? I don't feel like looking it up lol. But in my mind the only reality show going on in 1992 was the Real World (the /original/ reality show).

Anyhoo, about the contestants. James does seem like a nice guy and obviously will be great in comps. Other contestants would be wise to build relationships with him. I'm hoping that Leslie really draws on her faith and doesn't add more bad fodder for the Christians on tv reel. The red tribe in general seems to be very strong and working well together overall. Except for that waitress chick with the whitish/blond hair from New York city - she's annoyed me already and I hope she's the first to go from there. The yellow tribe needs to get their act together. Ashley looks to be a tough competitor but will obviously bring up some friction with other castaways - but surely that's why they signed her on as a big draw for ratings. Unless they get things in line the red tribe will dominate

It hasn't been 15 years -- it's been on both in the fall season and the spring season, which makes the number of seasons deceptive as far as years it's been on. It premiered the summer of 1999. I remember because it was one of the first shows my husband (then-boyfriend) and I got into together. :D

Courtney, the Gwen Stefani wannabe, is really obnoxious. "New Yorkers don't act that way!" What way, nice?

I think the wrestler was the one who told Probst she wasn't wearing a bra. ^_^

Oh, and yes, James is the grave-digger.
