That is an interesting question because the seems to be a significant difference, IMHO.
We are definitely preppers. We do not have bug out bags nor do we plan to be leaving our home when and if stuff hits the fan. We are storing up "preps" like food, water, medicine, and other things that might not be available in a post emp world. We also are moving toward self-sufficiency, which means a garden, some animals, and home energy sources.
We do not have guns and we do not plan on leaving. We are in our 60s so at the most we would leave and go to our oldest son's house out in the boonies.

I like survivalist stuff, like learning to survive in the wilderness, understanding medicinal uses for plants, making shelters, animal snares, fire, , finding food and water, and navigating without a compass. However I'm getting old and wont use my time for such things, but if I were younger...

To me it seems like we need to be a little of both.

It tells that in the end times during trials and tribulations for them to go into the wilderness and to not even go inside to retrieve anything but to get out.

I don't know if that is good or bad. If others learn you don't have guns in a hard time they may consider you an easy target but if you say you have guns in a hard time then they may attack you for your guns. I guess relying on the Lord is what we need to do.

I myself do not rely on guns for the fact that it is the people with guns that the authorities will come after first in a bad situation so I don't want any around but I do have my crossbow and traps for food gathering.

Essentially our half ton of food preps are not for us. They are for our kids, grand kids, and loved ones, or anyone hands the Lord may have them fall into. We are diabetic so our rice is pretty much useless to us... as is much of the other high carb food. I hope to never see it happen.. but if the stuff hits the fan and we are not around... the kids will known where to go to find the preps.

I wouldn't mind hunting with a bow. I wonder if small game can easily be taken with a bow.

Small game and birds can be. They have special small game aero tips that are designed for small game. They have little steel fingers that will keep it from going into the ground.

I would like the small game better than the large game. Not many bow hunters can put a kill shot into a deer or wild pig. I just do not like the idea of the animal suffering - running for miles with an arrow in a leg until it basically bleeds out. Small game would likely drop and pass as soon as it is hit.
Hope that makes sense.

Its also wasteful for one man to kill big game in a bug out situation. You kill a deer and it is spoiled in 3 days and you cant eat a whole deer in 3 days so killing small game which is enough for the day is way better for everybody.

This is true. We plan on eliminating all the muss and fuss and plan on raising rabbits, chickens, and maybe goats and pigs. Cows are a bit much for us since we are in our 60s. But a venison steak or roast would be be a nice addition to the menu!

I think I'm ready for the zombie apocalypse, er I mean, I'm a prepper. I don't THINK I have anything to worry about...
Marauders are always a worry... but if you live far enough out in the boonies I suspect they will go for the easy catches closer to town and will be mowed down by the masses and riots long before they find us. I do not rejoice in that future for the millions who will starve to death in the initial months. But it is a reality that may come to pass. Sad but that is what happens when a nation turns on God. It is just nature taking it's course.

Readied for both eventualities.
Wise again. We call our plan the road to self sufficiency. We will enjoy the benefits of this modern world and at the same time begin to work toward self sufficiency from this current economy and culture. It is also our plan to work with what is left... including those who are roamers of the land... survivalists if you will. Perhaps if you wander our way we can do business... provide a warm bath and food for something you may have gathered in the wild. We will all need each other in that day...

A two-week power outage or a failure/contamination of the water supply can happen anywhere at any time. Anyone can get hit by an earthquake or a tornado. Lots of people are subject to hurricanes.

Anyone ought to be prepared at least for that much.

With food and clothes we are to be content.
When the israelites left egypt it was with the clothes on their backs (God made it so their shoes didnt wear out) and what food they could carry (God provided manna and quail) and they spent 40 years in the wilderness.

Did they prep or did they survive? Well I think their prep was even cut short with the passoever meal they dint even have time for the bread to rise it had to be unleavened.

I think they survived, and if they did have any arms it was from the egyptians who got swept away by the red sea. They werent stocking up.

Later when they were held captive by babylonians God told them to plant and work the land even while they were being oppressed.

Anyway, just interesting what they did. But we are not israelites or in OT anymore, if anything we are still to ask the Lord for our DAILY bread. And not build bigger barns to hoard all our stuff.
