With food and clothes we are to be content.
When the israelites left egypt it was with the clothes on their backs (God made it so their shoes didnt wear out) and what food they could carry (God provided manna and quail) and they spent 40 years in the wilderness.

Well, actually they also took a lot of gold out of Egypt.

Did they prep or did they survive? Well I think their prep was even cut short with the passoever meal they dint even have time for the bread to rise it had to be unleavened.

They were prepped for an 11-day walk to the Promised Land. But because they initially refused to go in, God consigned them to 40 years in the wilderness...which they were not prepped for.

Survivalist or Prepper? Very good question.

Seems to me, it's an attitude thing.

Prepping for bad times is just plain sensible, like household insurance. If there is a fire, or flood, a quake, or storm, or job loss, it's prudent to be prepared, with food and water stores, a bug-out kit, and an everyday carry, so you and your family can ride out whatever the difficulty in good order.

Survivalism, though, is a fantasy lifestyle. And not a healthy one. In their imaginations, survivalists inhabit the Hobbesian state of nature; existences 'solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short', and are foolish enough to think they will thrive there. It's about being being equipped and inclined to live lonely, even at the cost of your neighbour countrymen and careless whether or not they live or die. 'So long as I am alright, Jack, I just don't give a expletive deleted what happens to all you sheeple'.

Prepping is self-reliance, and community resilience, proper folk-wisdom in an uncertain world. Survivalism is the extreme of selfish individualism, and has no common philosophy with Christian living.

Best wishes, Strivax.

I just try to have something to contribute in the case of a prolonged emergency. I have some extensive Red Cross training and focus on having extensive and quality first aid supplies, and I make sure I am armed enough to decently defend as best I can. I don't think I could possibly prepare for everything and cover everything in the case of a major emergency, so again I just try to make sure that I can contribute and would seek others so that we could rely on each others' strengths and supplies and work together. A major focus in my first aid approach is combating infection, because something small can become something life threatening pretty quickly in a situation where professional medical attention is not possible for a prolonged period of time. It is also good to be able to identify natural sources in this regard, like covering a wound with sphagnum moss for the iodine's antiseptic properties in the case of no alternatives. I find this approach (specializing and sharing) to be more practical than trying to cover everything possible, for me personally.
