  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a bunch of health issues that I struggle with...also, an addiction to pornography and food. I'm an alcoholic as well, but I'm nearly eight months sober, thank God. I can be selfish...I'm especially selfish when it comes to money. I'm getting better at giving my time and effort, but when it comes to money, I want to keep it all for myself. Also, I can be a critical/judgmental person without even meaning to. The thoughts come into my head about someone and I have to remind myself, no, no, no, that's not nice, you aren't perfect so stop judging them.

Congrats on the 8 months sober. That isn't a small feat.

As much as I could. Me and a good friend use to drink a half gallon of Jim Beam every night between us while splitting a 12 pack of beer. We just slugged it right out of the bottle.

Then for a few years we would set down with a half gallon of Mescal and drink it between the both of us while splitting a 12 pack of Bush beer.

My last year of drinking I was drinking Genius Stout and Southern Comfort. By myself I was drinking about a litter and two pints a day of SC and a 6 pack or a 12 pack of GS a day.

Were you hungover all the time?

I struggle with listening to people. When I talk I often go with the mindset that I am correct. Now I usually do a lot of research beforehand, so I am usually right. But still I really should be much more open-minded to new ideas. At least give that person that attention he/she deserve. Listen more and talk less.

I struggle with my self-esteem at times. Never felt "good enough", and every time I fail or fall or things go wrong or if I make a mistake, it's somewhere in the back of my mind. I struggle with loneliness. I've never been an overly social person or anything like that. But after having some close friends and losing them- each time there's a kind of emptiness that's hard to explain.

Yes, I figured. Lol. Anyway, I don't shook up too easily, so you'd have to try harder than that. Haha
I could get you shook up, but I won't, cause I'm smart enough not to make an enemy out of you ;p

I struggle with settling - a decent job somewhere I could settle. My last job, the place was horrible so I had to quit.

I also struggle with fear of sleeping while flying in an airplane! Seriously, I'm not joking!

I love going on short flights - two or three hours. But on long flights where I have to sleep, I get nightmares that the plane is breaking apart in mid-air! Everytime!

instead of meeting someone where they are at or being wise about my interactions I get all puffy and focus too deeply on the evils I see. virgos are pretty bad about being critical douche bags.

getting into irrational situations that need not be makes me go crazy. when things get bad where anxiety can be provoked due to too many bad things happening at once and that i don't have enough control over ends up making me start to get angry to the point where I can hardly control it anymore.

social anxiety. I don't like being around a lot of people that i don't know well.

gynophobia.

wondering about if I should be in this world or not. it is a yes when I find delight and a no when i'm down and blind.

trying to stabilize what I am internally with something that is pleasing to me externally. too much going inside of here and not enough outside, then the inside leaks out and it embarrasses me. I can't express what I am internally because external reality is too shallow so I have to try to develop what I am naturally without consuming myself up with all that I am becoming internally. so much easier loving inside than others outside of me. not enough intimacy on the outside, how could that even ever be? what could ever touch me outside like I have been touched inside?

I struggle with just sleeping on an aeroplane. A lot of it has to do with not being able to get comfortable - I'm over six foot, which certainly doesn't help in that regard, but I do wonder if I have possibly now convinced myself that I just can't do it.

It's certainly not a lot of fun experiencing it. I visited LA two years ago, which involved two 11-hour flights, together with a wait in the airport of a few hours between flights. So that amounted to something like 36 hours of not sleeping (taking into account the amount of time I'd been awake before the first flight) and I was pretty much a zombie at the end of it.

You must be living somewhere between Europe and South Asia to be that far from LA! I know the feeling! On my last flight, I haven't slept for two days before the flight! I Must be excited about going home. I'm not as tall as you and I don't really mind the small legroom in the economy class.

I got the fear of sleeping in an airplane from Earthquakes. It was one time, I was very young, I was sleeping and we were hit by a strong Earthquake and my mom took me out of the house quickly. It stuck with me since and between earthquakes and turbulence in aircraft they bring the same feeling!

South Africa. It's 11 hours to Heathrow and then a further 11 hours from Heathrow to LA.

I find that really interesting. It's fascinating some of the connections our brains come up with.
