• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

This is day 2 - yesterday went OK, I wore a patch, and only had a few minor cravings. Today has been a bit harder - bigger cravings, feeling weepy, very low in mood, but still haven't cracked :swoon: Now I'm actually starting to feel a little ill - headache, upset tummy - pretty sure these are all the usual withdrawal type symptoms, just needed to come and vent a little :sorry:

hey I'm new to this message board stuff and totally lost - have no idea if I'm doing this correctly.. Just wanted to offer encouragement to you - and congratulations for quitting. It's a huge deal.. I'm in my forth week of trying to quit with only two slips. Today was a great day after some serious on my knees prayer last night. Great is our God and worthy of praise. I just can't do it without Him.

Thanks for the encouragement, 1tessa :) And welcome to CF  You did just fine!

Have to say I'm having a bad day here, but as my man would say it's just a battle lost, not the war :sorry: Stick around - we'll do it together! God bless

Hang in there. You're really doing great. For what it's worth I found chewing on cinnamon sticks and straws to help tremendously. In addition, when I'm tempted I try to remember to rebuke the enemy who tries to separate us from the Lord. It's amazing how the temptation has disappeared immediately. I don't always remember to take that important step but it sure makes a difference when I do. So for me, today has started out great - that's two days in a row that I haven't thought about smoking almost constantly. I never thought that would happen. Praise the Lord. So keep up the good work. You rock!

how's it going today? I hope it's getting easier for you. What you're doing is such a huge deal and I applaud you - I think only people who have struggled with this addiction can understand how hard it is. May our most High and Majestic Father cradle you in His hands and give you peace. .

Oh boy, do my jaws get tired! :D Glad to hear you're doing so well, even on the tough days. Haven't caved again this week, so I'm really pleased - there were a couple of days when I would have killed for a cigarette, but didn't give in. I'm trying to remember what you said about rebuking the enemy - that's an aspect of all this that had never really occurred to me before.

Hope you're going on OK - praying for you :prayer:

hey - thanks for the prayers. I need them. I'm so happy for you that you haven't caved or attacked anyone for a smoke. AWESOME. Keep it up. How many days has it been? You really deserve a pat on the back for your HUGE accomplishment. I'm feeling frustrated today. As mentioned earlier I've had two great days since I quit but all other days have been a real struggle. Thank God for the two good days though - gives me hope that I won't always be thinking about smoking. Writing on this board is helpful - playing on the computer is about the only thing that isn't a trigger. Forgive me for rattling on. I'm trying to inspire myself - I'll not allow satan to come between me and the Lord. I feel like a dork writing like this but so what. I need to do whatever it takes to stay on the path. rah-rah Even if I sound like a complete idiot. Thanks again. Tess

Smoking won't always be foremost in your mind. I think that, at about 3 months, I started feeling a constant "peace"...Although the peace would come and go starting at around three weeks.

Hold on to the memories of those days where it wasn't a struggle, and remember...Very, very soon, your life will be like that all the time!

Wow that is great the you two are encouraging each other. The time of cravings will come to pass and soon you will forget that you ever smoked That is what it is like for me now. I just can't even think about it. But I know the struggle that it takes to get here so keep the faith!
