• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Oh goodness. This has all come on so fast. Yesterday I found out my insurance will cover IOP. Today I found out that the program I'm supposed to go to has merged with the IP/day program. So rather than going 3 nights a week, three hours a night, I'm there monday-friday 830am-230pm. This seems WORSE than inpatient. If I b/p, I'll still have to be there to eat breakfast, snack, and lunch. At least I wouldnt be able to b/p in IP. Oh AND I start tomorrow morning. Eek!

I like the program a lot. I havent b/p'd yet. Im there from 830am-230pm. The girls are great and so is the staff but it IS a hospital/psych setting. They take everything away and I feel like I'm in lock down. The groups are GREAT though. I definitely like have a lot of girls too. At Oceanaire, I didnt have enough for group therapy to be effective.

Most of the girls live very close to me so that will be nice once they are discharged. They all come from a variety of situations. Many have dual diagnosis' (other than depression) but its not easy to tell since they are on meds. Many of them have gone through physical and sexual trauma. EVERYONE is in a tough spot but we support each other. What else? Oh, there are girls of all ages:17-50ish. There are two in their 30s, one 39, and one that I'm going to guess is 50. The rest are in their teens or early 20s. Its a big eye opener for me because I wasnt in treatment with people so significantly older than me before. It opened my eyes to where this can go if I dont change.

I've experienced a lot of anger, sadness, and vulnerability since I've been there. Its really hard for me to hear about the physical/verbal/sexual abuse these beautiful and deserving women have gone though. I think that I will really get something out of this as long as I can get past the gross hospital food.

AND YES I AM BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH GREAT INSURANCE.
*I wont have it for long though. My step-dad lost his job today. We have it for another 2 months.
