The second you start to even think those works in any way saved you, or are saving you, or are keeping you saved, then you have just traded one kind of sin in for another, and maybe should have just held your ground without going forward or making any supposed forward progress until you could successfully do it without thinking in any kind of way like that at all.

God Bless!
The Bible says we are saved by God's grace without works (Ephesians 2:8-9), and the Bible also says works are needed as a part of salvation (1 Peter 4:18-19) (Matthew 3:10), too. It's not a contradiction if one understands that the Bible is talking about different points in time for the believer. But of course, most just ignore many verses in the Bible to fit a man-made belief that they prefer.

Not always is the path of one's own individual salvation always forward and upward progress always, but sometimes it is more of a roller-coaster ride, etc, and are you going to be the judge as to whether or not they are truly saved by the end of it or not?

My path is always forward and upward progress now, etc, but just because mine is that way I'm not going to say it is always that way, or always has to be that way for absolutely everybody, and you should not either, because it is sin, etc.

God Bless!

I only speak from what I know the Bible teaches.

Some will fall into the "Works ALONE Salvation" camp (Denying God's grace) (Luke 18:9-14).
Others will fall into the "Belief ALONE Salvation" camp (Justifying a "sin and still be saved" type belief)
(Example: Matthew 7:21-23, John 8:34-35, Matthew 13:41-42).

Few believers will find that balance and understand both God's grace and Sanctification save us (For salvation by God's grace: See: Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 10:9-13, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4) (For salvation by Sanctification: See: 2 Thessalonians 2:13, Romans 8:13, Galatians 6:8-9, Hebrews 5:9, Hebrews 12:14).

It's why you will not deal with the verses I presented so far.
You are simply unable to explain them.
So your own imaginary thoughts take rule instead of only accepting certain verses from a wrong-slanted perspective.

I say this not to wound you but only to help you or challenge you to accept all the Bible says and put away your thoughts and thinking.

Peace and blessings from God to you.

Just for the record, it is always good and fine to make forward and upward progress, but only as long as you don't think that is what is saving you, or is keeping you saved, etc, because then you have just crossed a/the line into setting you yourself up as your own one and only true Lord, and God, and Savior.

So do seek forward and upward progress always, but do not think it is what is saving you, or is keeping you saved, because in that case, or if you do do that, then you should have just held your ground, and stayed where you are, until you could have made true forward and upward progress by not ever thinking that, etc.

God Bless!

The Bible is no laughing matter.
It is a spiritual book that needs to be spiritually discerned.
But many today do not accept all of what the Bible says because they don't like everything it says.
Thus, if they don't accept it, they are not able to understand it (1 Corinthians 2:14).

But, I've got to get off here soon as I am going to bed.

See, this is your downfall.
You are speaking from your own thoughts and not Scripture.
You have not let Scripture reign over your own thoughts.
If you did, then you would be able to explain the verses that burst the bubble of your precious belief.
So do seek forward and upward progress always, but do not think it is what is saving you, or is keeping you saved, because in that case, or if you do do that, then you should have just held your ground, and stayed where you are, until you could have made true forward and upward progress by not ever thinking that, etc.

Honestly, I am not interested in your ramblings. I am only interested in what the Bible says.
If you cannot quote and or discuss Scripture, then this conversation is going to end fast.

May God bless you, as well.

Woe to those who worship the letters of the Word/words, but fail to discern it's Spirit.

God Bless!
Perhaps you should tell God to relay a message to the Psalmist who wrote this verse below that he is in error.

Psalms 119:140
"Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it."

If you were able to discern the Word by the Spirit, then you would be able to explain the verses I put forth to you that destroys your false line of thinking here.

Also, false idol worship is regarding an object as if it is God Himself.
I don't believe the paper and ink (the Bible) is literally God Himself.
God is a spirit being.
God is triune.
God is eternal.
But the words on the page in the Bible are the expressed thoughts of God.
It's God's story and words to mankind.
It's how we have faith.
No Bible, and there is no faith.

Many believers today rip 2 Corinthians 3:6 out of context to say exactly the same thing you do.

It says,

“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6).

Now, this verse is not saying that we are not allowed to interpret Scripture in a literal way vs. some overly spiritualistic interpretation (i.e., read the Bible as a metaphor when it does not align with what you like to hear). The letter that kills is in reference to the Torah or the Old Testament Law of Moses (the 613 Laws of Moses given to Israel). The context refers to the two different ways each of these covenants began, and it's not talking about the letter in general, like the literal commands of Jesus or His followers.

The Old Covenant Law of Moses BEGAN with the letter with the two tablets of stone and the written Torah.

The New Covenant BEGAN with the audible words of Jesus Christ, and His apostles, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and not by the letter like with the Law of Moses. That is the point Paul was making. We are now under a New Covenant (Which means we are to serve in newness of spirit and not in the oldness of the letter - Romans 7:6). The oldness of the letter is the Torah or the Old Testament Law of Moses. We are not to serve by looking to the Law of Moses. Yes, all believers (who are truly faithful) are guided by the Holy Spirit, but the Spirit is not going to guide us into any wrongdoing but the Spirit is going to guide us to obey what the New Testament says. The Spirit will not guide us into obeying the whole of the Law of Moses. The Law of Moses as a whole or package deal is no more.

The context of 2 Corinthians 3:6 shows the differences of the two covenants.

2 Corinthians 3:3, 2 Corinthians 3:7, 2 Corinthians 3:12-17 says,

[3] “Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. [7] But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: [12] Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: [13] And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: [14] But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. [15] But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. [16] Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. [17] Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

The context is not saying for us to look at Scripture in a non-literal way, and if you do, it will bring death. The point Paul was making is that the Old Law is no more. For in the Old Law, it did bring death because if somebody disobeyed God's commands in the Old Testament, you could be stoned and or killed physically by God's people (the Israelites). This does not mean we can turn God's grace into a license for immorality by saying that Jesus paid for all future sins or by just believing in Jesus alone for salvation.

Many believers today rip 2 Corinthians 3:6 out of context to support your cliche false line of thinking.

The OT Law was built on the premise that works save you.

So, let me ask you this then:

Do you think works save you or keeps you saved?

Yes or No?

God Bless!

Your words in that post were veiled insults,
I am only seeking for you to speak and discuss God's words, not your thoughts.
If you ramble on with your own thoughts, I will simply move on because I am not interested in what YOU say or think. I am only interested in what the Bible says. If you can back up your thoughts or words with Scripture, we can converse. It's not an insult; it is simply my desire to have a Bible conversation with you that you don't want. If you don't want to discuss Scripture, we can move on.

I did not insult you by making it personal outside of a Bible discussion or the topic of this thread.

due to you getting very upset,
And that's your imagination again working overtime.
I am not even slightly irritated by this conversation.

which I found absolutely hilarious because they were the pot calling the kettle black.
Please explain why you think I am being hypocritical.
If you can show how I am hypocritical, I will apologize.

God Bless!
And may God bless you.
