The #1 worst name this year was 'Superman'... and they named the child that because the government would not allow the name '4Real'. Sad but true.

I heard about that case. What is going on with parents these days and naming their children? It is unfortunate as naming a child is something that should be entered into with the most seriousness of minds as it has a huge impact on a person.

Maybe I'm a bit old school in my thinking?

Hey watchit you people complaining about weird names!

(says the girl named Kyrie-Eleison)

Ian is the scottish form of John, to add to your list Aria.

Jeremiah is:
Jeremy in old english
Ieramias in greek
Yerami in arabic...

Kyriaki becomes Dominica in latin, which leads to Dominique in French. I've always liked the name Dominique.

Kyriaki is a happy name, and I've finally got my family to start pronouncing it right (they kept putting the accent on the second to last syllable, not the last).

I'd like to name a daughter Dominique. There's a St Dominica too.

Yes, Yiannis is John in Greek.
Hans is Swedish.
Johann is German.
Sean and Shane are Irish.
Ian is the Scottish form.
Jean is French.
Juan is Spanish.
Joannis is Latin
Hans is a short form of Johannes and there are plenty of John:s in Sweden as well. And Jon:s, a form I was never a fan of. There's also many Hannes and Johan.
Even my own name derives from Johannes to Johanna to Jennie.
