Doing my morning check-in :). Got lots of stuff to get done at home. We're having a St Patrick's Day get together at our house since we're only about 50 steps from the parade route on Saturday. Hubs is going to make omelettes for our guests.

Anhelyna, how is Raymond doing?
A wee bittie better thanks Khaleas

Still on oxygen , and IVs of antibiotics , antivirals and anti fungals.

Still not making any blood so still getting platelets and whole blood on a daily basis .

Still getting physio and learning to cope with his balance problems

Still in isolation - and he will be till he is discharged from hospital - hopefully in about 3 months time - IF the Chemotherapy works and he goes into remission.

Temp has now been down for 3 days and mentally he is a bit brighter.

As soon as they are able to they will be restarting Chemotherapy and once that 10 day course is finished we will go through the whole very nasty recuperation business again

Why are we talking about bacon? *eye twitch*

Please don't mention bacon, goodness knows my own family are doing it enough...

*twitches again*

sorbet. sorbet is nice....so is tomato in pasta...and coconut rice...
Kyrie

You are going to have to get used to this - in the Fast all conversations turn to

FOOD :D :D :D

BTW - remember that good dark chocolate does not contain dairy - so it is permitted - honestly it is.

AND - chocolate is good for you and a wee treat like that does help get through the rest

agreed - but nice crispy bacon sarnies are truly wonderful food.
With the mention of the word ba*on our three Dachshunds go nuts... they'd do a triple backflip if they could to get some ba*on. :D
Fortunately for me they can't read... :p or I'd be attacked by three SAUSAGES!!! :p

Thanks for the update Anhelyna. Again you are in our prayers... I am glad his temp is down that is a very good sign.

God bless,
Philothei

I'm glad to see that this good ol' tradition of food conversations on fast days is back.
I'm taking the plane to the US tomorrow. My first time overseas. I'll tell you how it goes and my interactions with the local population.

I discovered today that vegan food when out and about = very hard to find unless you can find a vegan cafe. :sigh:

Most coffee shops sell soy milk though :) Soy chai latte = got Kyrie through a tough morning.

My continued prayers for Raymond Anhelyna.

On the topic of fasting - I had to wait for Jeremy to get a life to Church tonight on the corner of a pub/restaurant in the City...I usually perch there on a flower planter that makes a good seat. Unfortunately I'd forgotten that people are usually eating...and they were all eating FISH right behind me. And then Jeremy was late so I had to smell it even longer. And we were going to pre-sanctified so I was hungry...

GAH. Noone told me it'd be THIS hard!

*goes back to singing "I can't hear you" at the food people*

I just finished making two batches of jello. I got plastic cups (reusable and cheap), and filled them about 1/4 of them full with diced fruit from a jar ($1.50US equivalent for a massive container), and added jello. Yay snacks!

Sort of healthy, right? It has fruit!

It's better than my usual snacks when not fasting :p

Not to rain on your parade, but gelatine is technically an animal product... I don't see any real reason to avoid it as many people have no idea, and it certainly doesn't taste like meat, but I'm sure that there are people who would say that it is not allowed. Honestly I find it more strange to use dairy and meat substitutes than to eat an animal product that tastes like fake strawberry flavor...
