Interesting. So what happens to the tomb during Pascha?

People take turns praying the Psalms before the tomb from Fri night through midnight Sunday morning until Pascha liturgy begins.

I'm zonked... it took me 1 hr 40 mins to get to church (on a Sunday morning it takes about 20 mins). Rush hour traffic and a baseball game letting out. PHEW! I think I might stay at church tomorrow after Vespers.

Anyways, I'm heading to bed. Tomorrow will be a LOOONG day.

Jenn,
Did you see the icon the Reader Michael got?
Michael

Yes, I did... well, I smelled it before I saw it. The varnish still reeks :) . It got here at 8:30 this morning supposedly. Now it was sitting between St Alexis Toth and John Kochurov (sp?) the priest (we're getting short on icon stands).

Well, I'm off to bed. I'm zonked.

It did get there this morning at 8am. Reader Michael called me as soon as he got it. We won't discuss how much it cost me to early morning delivery overnight it to him.

Well, we're in for a treat. Mother-in-law canceled her plane tickets and decided to drive up so she could bring her cocker spaniel. I don't know why she can't bring Brownie on the plan, but I guess she doesn't want her baby in the cargo hold. I think Fergus will inhale her or maybe sit on her. This will be interesting.

I felt like the biggest klutz today. When I came to the church for the Imperial Hours I was trying to be sneaky quiet, but I kept making clunky noises everywhere I went--closing the door, venerating an icon (my cross necklace banged against it and then got caught in the frame and almost strangled me) and setting my book bag down on the pew. Lord Jesus, protect me. :crosseo:

I saw someody almost knock down the cross yesterday when they went to kiss it so I'm sure you weren't that bad. :)

O.K . I am off to the cemetary where the priest will be doing Trisagion at the graves of our loved ones.

Yeah, I was really worried about doing that, especially since the cross at this parish has candles on it and I was so afraid of knocking them on to me and setting my self on fire. When I venerated it, I crouched down a safe distance away and leaned in just enough to kiss it so that I didn't smack into it.

Phew! I finished my Pascha cheese and tomorrow I'm making Kulich bread. I might try for a little nap now and then I need to run some errands. :)
It's like the final taunt of Lent, fixing food when you're fasting completely... (well, I've had an orange cuz otherwise I would just fall over by 3 pm).

Hi all,
It is Vespers Hours now, but due to Seraphima's M.E. and the long stand at last night's Vespers, we are taking a break. Tomorrow we will be baking Kulich bread tomorrow too. The raisins are soaking inrum now. And we are making red boiled eggs to give to friends too.
I took mt PDA with me with the Kulick recipe on it to make sure I had the right ingredients.
I got the rum at our local liquor store that is owed by Greek Orthodox. So I was able to wish them a Blessed Good Friday too. They seemed to appreciate that gesture.
You all have a Blessed Good Friday.

Hehe...I felt like that last Saturday when we started baking the Paska [easter bread]. Talk about temptation.

:D Yes we had candles on top of the cross too, and our priest who is a pretty old man went up on a ladder to put a wreath made of flowers on top of the cross. I was sure either he was going to step on his rassa, trip, and fall, or the wreath was going to catch on fire as he passed it over the candle. Thank God he is one tough cookie and nothing happened.

By the way just got back from the cemetary, and I smell like burning Olive branches, because that's what we use instead of incensce in our family. (Families provide the censcer for trisagion at the cemetary) The priest was walking around among the many graves, and where he saw an Orthodox family gathered he would do the trisagion and cense the gravesite.
