I thought this was common knowledge... hence the name "widow". But Latrodectus females are always larger in size than the males. The males do not have an enlarged abdomen, nor do they have the classic Latrodectus shape.

Males don't usually bite because their fangs are so small. It's hard to pierce human skin.
