Just looked around in GA. Is it just me or am I correct in thinking that it is idiotic to spend so much time and to post so much on a Christian forum when you don't believe in God? I am not talking about honest seekers I am talking about the semi-pro antagonists that hang out there baiting and waiting.

Any honest heartfelt answer to a question about what we believe is either avoided at all cost, or it is scoffed at by some pretty rude people. Now I myself was once a skeptic, but the last thing I would have done is hung out with people I thought were fanatics. The saddest part is all the people that blame God for all the bad things and then think nothing of Him in the good things. I dunno...

I guess the best I can do is pray for them or shake the dust off, one or the other. I am leaning towards prayer, cause that is what Jesus would do, but that dust thing thing looks real good sometimes.

You know, that's how I got saved. I used to tune into Christian radio to make fun of what Christians believe. It took a while, but I started listening because it was interesting--different from what I thought Christians believe. Then months later, I got saved.

I've seen people who came to CF to ridicule us, to mock us and to hurt us with words, and then, sometimes years later, get saved.

Keep praying. CF works.

I would say most atheist and unbeliever are here to debate. While christians can still debate and enjoy fellowshiping one with another.there isn't really anything that unite the atheist except the fact they don't believe in God and love to debate with those who do. I personally like read and post some in News and events
So If you want to debate with others including atheist GA does the job but fellowship among believers is better here.

Good testimony. Do you remember who you listen to? I was also saved by listening to the radio though not to make fun.

GA is the General Apologetics forum.

My issue with GA is that it is difficult to have reasoned and effective dialogue about these serious topics when there are so many thoughts and opinions from all over the map happening so quickly.

There are really intelligent and well thought out posts from both Christians and non-Christians that get drowned out by the masses of sound bites from both sides. And most of the time, people aren't really interested in hearing opinions from the other side, but simply parroting stuff they've been told or read about from someone on their side to "prove" their side right.

Although in fairness, GT sometimes gets like that too. ;)

Is it? I had no idea. I dunno Liz why do they hang out there? I would assume to evangelize, but does that mean that the athiests that hang out here are trying to "de-evangelize" the saved?

That is exactly what I was trying to say. It seems like a waste of time to try and answer a respectful question when the minute you do the thread turns into sound bytes and body slams.

I don't have the patience yet to deal with people like that.

I used to tune in at 8 AM and tune out at 5 PM because I listened to the radio while I worked. Whoever came on during that time, that's who I listened to. :D

I don't know for sure if what you are speaking of is for the same reason, but, I first found out about Christian Forums when asked for help by a friend. This friend had been a member of another Forum which has since been closed down. The problem which closed it down was a deliberate planned attemp by Atheists to stir up as much discord as they could on the Christian Forum.

I managed to track down several of the "trouble makers" to an Atheist Forum out of Australia where the members spoke about their attacks and planned their strategy. I documented the members involved and their posts which discussed their plans, and presented the information to the Webmaster for the Christian Forum. Unfortunately, their response was exactly what the atheists wanted, the site was permanently closed. They felt that it would be cost prohibative to try and stop the attacks.

The tenor of some of the posts I have seen in some of the boards here are similar to some of the things that closed down the other site. At one time, I tried to start a thread to engage some of these I suspect of being up to the same thing here. The Moderators shut down the thread for "Baiting."

I pretty much stay in the "christian only" section of CF. I used to venture out into the other forums, but was getting myself worked up, and upset. These days I only pop into the top 1/2 of the forums on a rare occasion.

I'd rather chat w/ newbie Christians and help them grow.. than try to plant seeds with people that have no intention of reading the words I'm writing.

A lot christians don't realize that atheists could have more of an agenda than learning about our faith. Most people only think of christians trying to proselytize non-believers and not that they're trying/doing the same. Honestly, I don't see a reason why a christian would want to be part of an atheist website other than trying to witness.

I spend a lot of time in GA...at least reading. The Atheists/Agnostics seem to be on a mission of some sort. :D

When pressed on the why's they tend to either duck or say "just for fun" but I often wonder. When I see something worth responding to I do. I avoid most of the deliberately devised logic traps and puzzles.

It is my hope that when I step into that arena and give a response that perhaps if the OP doesn't benifit from it, perhaps some other reader will.

One side benefit, that I give thanks for, is that working with the folks in GA always pushes me farther into the Word. Many is the late night I've spent with Bible and concordance trying to unscrew the inscrutable. Wonderful.

Finally I appreciate the GA forum for teaching me all about wrong attitude. Both in others and myself. If you wish to test your patience and humility...GA is for you! ;)

Peace to you.

I used to post in GA all the time even when I was a mod. I was most amazed at the Christians that post in there. Some of them are actually helping the lost on a journey to hell. I would find myself debating the Christians so I just stay out now.
