Man I am really in the mood for some apple pie with some ice cream right now.

Hmmm, I wonder if I could improvise with a Mrs. Baird's fried pie and a Drumstick from 7/11.

What does this have to do with Crevo you might ask?

About as much as the OP.

According to atheist doctrine, do glorified apes have souls?

(Just a simple YES or NO will do, please --- this isn't an invitation to spout.)

I'll be happy to answer, AV, but first, I'd like to ask for a little clarification.

Firstly, what is this "atheist doctrine" you speak of? As far as I am aware, there is no common belief amongst atheists other than they lack of belief in God. There is certainly no agreement among atheists about the existence of souls.

Secondly, could you define "soul" for me? There are many different definitions used by different people, and I'd like to make sure I know which definition you are using.

Anyway, the Bible itself says that there isn't anything that raises mankind above the animals. See for yourself...

Ecclesiastes 3:19 said:
3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

It seems that no matter what definition you use for "soul", it is shared by both man and other animals. Either man and animals have souls, or man and animals both lack souls. To claim otherwise is to say that the Biblical, God-breathed words of the King James Bible that you hold so high are wrong when it says, "a man hath no preeminence above a beast".

And here endeth the first lesson, 'hoisted by his own petard', his words blew up in his face.

No. Very good point! One that 'believers' ought to reckon with.

My idea of a 'soul' is that it's nothing more than wishful thinking.

A separation of mind and body so when our body dies the mind can still survive.

There's absolutely no evidence that points towards this.
Humans fear of death has been the cause for many ridiculous ideas throughout history.

In this case I would say that since there are no souls, neither apes nor humans have it.

If your definition of a soul however is something inside the brain (that dies with it) that acts as some kind of guideline/program/instinct then my answer would be: I don't know but it's highly likely it's fairly the same with some minor differences, just like our genome.

I believe this falls into the category of an "Ad Hoc" question. Also, what does having an education have to do with being an atheist? Matters of faith are not taught in science classes. Faith is outside the realm of science.

Um.... he asked a question. What "point" do you think he made by doing so?
The point that most men on earth have always KNOWN there is a soul, a spirit in man. For the few that don't. sorry, who really cares??! Not like you have proof of your minority foolish by bible standards or majority of men standards personal opinion.

Therefore, the glaring fact that monkeys and apes are generally known to not have the same sort of souls proves there is no common ancestor! Unless one foolishly denies the spiritual, of course, but since there is no possible proof, that is a vain endeavor.

Sorry to scare you, son. But I must tell the truth, even if some consider it scary.

What you're saying isn't intrinsically a scary thought; the scary thought is that you actually believe these absurdities in spite of having been corrected countless times.

There's a hundred pages worth of people explaining to you why it doesn't need to be proven, dad. The fact that you still don't get it is what's so scary.

So, 'most men on earth have always KNOWN there is a soul, a spirit in man.'
does this also apply to babies born with brain damage or born deaf dumb and blind?
and how many souls do babies born with two heads have? or babies born dead, or miscarriages?
is the soul in the mind like love, hate or religion? is it just another feeling, just another emotion?
religion like hope, love and hate all die when the body dies.

Why do religious people never look at what they believe? why do they just accept it blindly as being 'THE TRUTH'?
religion is so obviously flawed it's mind blowing that supposedly sane people even consider it to be true.

Why do religious people never wonder why they all believe something different?
how come a Christian believes one thing and a Muslim something else,
could it have anything to do with where and by whom they were raised?

Atheists despise being instructed in the things of the LORD.
Proverbs 1:7 said:
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
It is very prevalent here on the Internet.
