From sleeping wrong!!!
That didn’t happen in my 20s.
Stiff neck could also be due to a cold or other issues. I called my Physician to be sure it wasn't MS and he confirmed that since there was no fever or other issues it was just a lousy night's sleep :).

Funny story... a few years back we were in the process of getting a new physician and so we had to do a 12 hour fast blood test. OK, no biggie. Went ahead with life as usual and did the blood test. Well, several weeks went by and the doctor's office calls and says I have to come back for a re-check. Say WHAT?!?! I'm healthy! I try to do everything right! I ended up going to a specialist and he's prattling on and on and on about muscular dystrophy, heart disease, MS, etc... I was physically feeling dizzy with all this new info he was throwing at me. He asked me several times if I ever had a fever. I said no. I did say I had been working out as usual throughout the week and had done a workout the day before the blood test. He was not convinced! My lactic acid was through the roof and he was sure I was having a muscle issue SOMEwhere!

Well, I went a whole week without doing any workouts (except over-working my brain with stress with this newfound information! lol) went back for another blood test and within 24 hours he calls me from the lab telling me my results were PERFECT. What a RELIEF!! Even the doctor was relieved but he admitted he was sure something was wrong with me! ^_^

Moral of the story: if your muscles hurt ALL the time and you have a fever ALL the time over a period of a long time, GET CHECKED! If you just slept wrong or did strenuous work the day before, it's probably not a big deal.
