Something strange happened to me

Something wierd happened to me last night while I was praying in bed. I don't know if it was a spiritual disturbance or if the covers were just too warm. I was praying, and as I decided to praise the Lord, this inexplicable chill took me. As if there was a fear inside me, but it wasn't coming out of my mind or my soul . . . I prayed what I was praying, switched to another topic, and decided to pray the same praises again and the same feeling hit me, and I was barely able to whisper the praises. Could this be a possible demon problem, or is something else just out of whack?

It's hard to say without knowing more about the problem, such as whether or not you are worried about something od if your prayer request was about something that troubles you. Aside from these, yes, there are spirits that can inspire fears. James Dobsone once related in the book, Emotions: Can you trust them? that a spirit tried to tell him that someone would die soon, but to keep trusting in "me," apparently meaning the Lord. But Dr. Dobson was on the verge of launching his ministry, and he feels it was an attack from satan to inspire distrust and possibly thwart his upcoming ministry.

It's very possible. These can happen when people are beginning new ministries, are about to receive a blessing, are increasing in their labors for the Lord or faith in Him, etc. It can also happen during confessions to the Lord.

I've also heard of this happening to people either on the verge of something great or who are being used mightily at that time. They believed in was demonic and had to fight in Jesus name to be rid of it.

I've always thought that a touch of the Lord can come as heat or cold.
I think that if you still had the Peace of the Lord while you were "trying to figure out what it really was" then it wasn't a demon. Pray and ask the Lord to reveal it to you. And use peace as your umpire.

I certainly see what you're saying. The only problem is, how do we know if a feeling of peace is from the Lord, or if satan is appearing as an angel of light?

one time i was praying about the demonized man that raped my mother before i was born and i felt a hand on my throat. the last time i rededicated my life to the Lord in front of a church, when was saying the sinners prayer i felt like i was being choked. I had to force the words out b/c i wouldn't let satan keep me down. other people that i know have experienced this before.
IF you question that its the Lord...then well they say in this gospel song, "when you've been touched by the power of God you'll know it." and i believe thats true.
i have had some serious spiritual problems (been delivered from generations and generations of witchcraft and mental illness) and when God has touched me I have never doubted. but when the devil has bothered me i have felt like you have at times. where i wasn't sure who it was. So just keep praying. When i pray i usually say Jesus instead of God. and that ususally gives me more clarity on whose answering back.
Just keep praying hard about it. and you;ll get your answer. also if you don't mind mentioning what you were praying about or your situation that might enable us to better understand why you might have been attacked.

how do we know?
man seek Jesus Christ... he will show you what this is in the spirit.

it may take alot of prayer or fasting, but God can show you.
there are so many unseen things at work around us. i have stories like this of my own i could tell.
pray for God to show you and deal with this, and he will if your determined and patient.

Amen. And scripture. Because we have to test the spirits, asking them if Jesus came to earth in human flesh and if He rose again fromthe dead. Not the grave, but the dead. If the spirit denies this, you know where it came from.

The only thing that worries me is your mind running away with this idea. While it is always possible that demons could be attacking you and you want to be aware of it, you also have to remember that you are God's child...and He's got your back no matter what. Don't let this idea break you down...scare you...or allow it to go on. If you truly believe you were being spiritually attacked, prepare yourself through prayer and Scripture and fellowship for when you feel the same way again. If you feel yourself being spiritually attacked, pull out your Bible and immerse yourself in God! Whenever my mind is restless...prayer and meditation on Christ is helpful and calming...and even calling a friend to pray with can be so amazingly peace-giving! Don't let this grow into a fear...next time you feel spiritually-attacked, you tell Satan to go to hell! I say it out loud, even. It helps get your mind back on the fact that the war is already won...and you're on the Victor's side. Then, utilize the tools God gave you...friends, the Bible, and direct communication through prayer! Sometimes, it may be during those few moments of restlessness when you grow nearer and nearer to Christ or your loved ones.
