This is why we are talking about statistics. A lot of people don't appreciate what statistics tells them.
That's...not how statistics work. What you're talking about is anecdotal data.I suspect the issue is the imbalanced reporting. Oftentimes we hear what's wrong and little about how people are progressing and moving beyond limitations. It lends the impression that everyone is struggling and being left behind.

Look, I understand the game you're playing right now. I've played it myself on other topics! You know full well what I'm talking about.
If you don't then I highly recommend you listen to what the people are actually saying who are currently out in the streets making everyone upset.
Spoken with true white privilege and extreme white fragility.
That isn't a weekend or state/federal holiday (when the DMV is closed anyways)? Plenty.
Assuming they could afford to. And something like this isn't going to exist everywhere.
I do.I don't know anyone like that.
It's good that you can recognize that, but perhaps since you do, it would be wise to avoid passing judgment on other people's experiences just because you are unable to relate.I can't fathom it because I've never seen or lived it. I read about inequality to understand what's taking place. But there are things I'd never do. Lines I can't cross. In my spirit I know it's a dead end.
That's why God to called me to fashion, not social issues. I'm not the best person for the job.

I feel sorry for all your teachers throughout your life. If your math teacher taught you addition by showing you 2 oranges and then 2 more and asking how many oranges do you now assume math only applies to oranges?????
But it kind of is. When you start proposing hypotheticals of "what if white people had the same life experiences as black people" when they clearly didn't, you have to ask why that's the case. And it almost always comes down to a system that works differently for different people based on their race - systemic racism.
Agreed. Now, can you explain why blacks go to college at a lower rate than whites?
I do.
It's good that you can recognize that, but perhaps since you do, it would be wise to avoid passing judgment on other people's experiences just because you are unable to relate.
This is why we are talking about statistics. A lot of people don't appreciate what statistics tells them. They like to rely on "anecdotal data". Anecdotal data are limited in scope and tell you very little about the overall population. Indeed there ARE people of color who do quite well! There are MANY such people. But the point is that the majority, the "mean" if you will, do NOT have it so good.
It like someone telling you the average height of a kindergartner is 3'9" tall and you automatically assume that EVERY SINGLE KINDERGARTNER IS EXACTLY 3'9" tall. That isn't how statistics work. Sometimes there are kindergartners significantly taller and signficantly shorter than that!
No, I want an answer to the questions everyone keeps dodging. What political or governmental organizations are pushing these actions?
Fine... I'm privileged and you're not.
Just talk no solutions.
Jiminz, I was answering a specific question from another poster. Please, do try to pay attention to the posts before you put your $0.02 in. Thanks!
WHO ON EARTH SAID I WASN'T PRIVILEGED??? What is your problem? I didn't say that. OF COURSE I'm privileged.
I'm a cis-gender, straight white male in the USA. That's the PICTURE of privilege.
Still didn't hear you propose any solutions to the problem, just talk it's always just talk never action, and I don't mean protesting or tearing down a statue that shouldn't offend you.
This kind of obtuseness is hardly of any real value. I gave you and EXAMPLE and you ran and acted like it was the ONLY TOPIC.
The shame... the horror!!!
You were born the wrong way, man o man. Guess the only thing left to do is repent for having been born in a manner that wasn't even your choosing. Or you can get over it and move on in life.
And you're a Republican?
Actually I am trying to get you to answer a question you seem keen to avoid for obvious reasons.
What political or governmental organizations are pushing these actions?
If you must misrepresent my position, please don't do it when I'm around.
My life is just fine. It's OTHERS lives that I'm worried about.
What??? What is your malfunction? Are you going to misrepresent me on EVERYTHING??? I never said I was a Republican! Sheesh! I'm a Liberal and a Dem.
Wow. Do you read anything for content?
If you would like to talk about that I will do so. But please do not insert your comments as if my answer to the other poster's question required a "solution" per se.
Now, what is the solution? Well, education, as you propose is an EXCELLENT start. But education must ALSO happen in the white community. We must realize that we have enjoyed a great degree of privilege unearned by granted us solely due to our skin. As such it is up to us to:
1. Listen when people of color tell us their problems.
2. Do try not to make it all about ourselves (white fragility)
3. When we are in a position to hire or give business to someone, let us understand our internal, sometimes even unconscious biases and work past them.
4. Let us vastly improve the welfare system and access to affordable healthcare for ALL Americans
That's a small start. There's other things we can do. We can stop this war on drugs, we can ensure our justice system is far more equitable, we can shift funding in the police toward mental healthcare and social workers as well as deescalation teams, etc. We also need to de-militarize the police.
There's a ton we can do right now. Today. But a big component is going to be us white folks who have gotten so much from a system that enshrines (even mildly) racial inequity.
please do not insert your comments as if my answer to the other poster's question required a "solution" per se.
I gave you an example. You assumed it was the only one. Now I will have to repeat myself (because apparently you don't read much of what you are responding to).
