  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Some wrong ideas about life

Monks, the taking of life — when indulged in, developed, & pursued — is something that leads to hell, leads to rebirth as a common animal, leads to the realm of the hungry shades.

Precept 1. Refrain from taking life

Not killing any living being. For Buddhists…

I have no idea what you are talking about.

If you want to answer the question, go ahead, but that is obviously the opposite of an answer.

Exactly what I said: quote and reference a Bible verse that explicitly bans abortion after the book of Deuteronomy.

Now who's moving the goalpost?

I didn't say a word about banning abortion.

I simply said, "Abortion is murder."

That means the "banning" is implied, since murder is banned.

And why "after Deuteronomy"?

Can't it be "before Deuteronomy" or "in Deuteronomy"?

Read the story about the fetus with no brain who was conceived by rape. There obviously is such a thing.

There is no such thing as… it’s fine (to kill) in this case

Sorry!

Does this answer your challenge?

Proverbs 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and
hands that shed innocent blood,

Murder is explicitly banned in Exodus 20.

I clearly explained why: because most Jewish people, whose holy book is the first five books of the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy in that order), are pro-choice. If Jews don't think any verses in the Five Books of Moses ban abortion, Christians must use verses in books after them to prove God bans abortion.

There is no innocent blood in a woman's uterus. Innocence requires the ability to choose obedience or disobedience, which obviously does not exist before birth.

There is no blood in a zygote, blastocyst, or young embryo anyway.

What story about a fetus with no brain?

I googled it and got this:

Anencephaly is a serious birth defect in which a baby is born without parts of the brain and skull.

Is this what you're talking about?

What kind of exegesis is this?

Since when do Christians align their doctrine in lockstep with Jewish doctrine?

Jews don't think Christ is God, despite the fact that He's all through the books of Moses.

Should we deny His deity as well?

Got it.

Guilty until proven innocent ... right?

We're all born sinners, so let's just all line up to be aborted.

Don't just abort some -- abort them all.

Messianic Jews have something to say about this. Go to their forum.
