I would like to know some things from fello Christians...

Why is it that creationism vs evolution, flood vs no-flood, are concidered so important to the faith.

If you are a creationist,would you loose your faith if evolution was proven true tommorow? How would it change the way you see God?

First of all the Genesis account is about God creating life on this planet. As long as I've been involved in these debates I've never once encountered an argument regarding the flood. God promises us eternal life in the New Testament, are we to assume that life is going to be by exclusively naturalistic means?

As far as evolution, it's not a theory it's a natural phenomenon. The real question is the point of origin, and that is always God.

The Genesis myths should not matter to your faith. And the fact is that the evidence clearly tells us that those events did not happen. If God cannot lie, then the flood of Noah never happened.

We can start after the first cell came about.... that had complex DNA... which could not form by accident. But let's use benevolent mutations which almost never occur and use them as the driving for evolution. That give us increasing complexity.... which has never been observed. But we do see adaptation, which is a conservative process and repeated subtraction does sometimes equal addition, right....kinda? Doesn't matter, it's settled science.

We know there was a local flood and we know that Moses copied an ancient Sumerian text he had never seen... only Moses didn't write Genesis. It was done by committee many years later. We know that the flood was very severe but it stopped at the edge of the sea and piled upon itself because had it gone into the sea the flood waters couldn't rise above the sea level... only they did....in a small part of the world surrounded by mount.... ummm.... flatlands. Never mind. Your book was written by bronze age goat herders and this is settled science. It's the best kind of science because everyone can give their own opinion and declare it to be fact.

Never mind all that. The important thing is that there is no ultimate consequence for our actions so we can all get stoned and sleep with each other's wives. Morality is all subjective. When die, we're just dead. long live the state. So just pay your taxes, give all you can spare to fund research, shut up and live off the labor of others. Ahhhh, Utopia!!

You sound like my dad, perhaps You have read the same stuff. He had read some stuff about the flood too and said it was a huge flood not all over the earth.
To me my faith is not mostly based on historical events but on the relationship I believe I have with the Lord today. However that might be hard to prove scientifically. Also science does not matter much when Someone is sick, old or poor, then perhaps faith is carriyng That person more because They know that the fact one day could be Their last, but the Young strong and rich often think they need no God and live 60 more years. It could end faster than they thought and then no debates on historical events are any help. I hope this is no offence to the rich, young and strong but we all need to concider our priorities. I also know it was a miracle that healed my grandfather from deadly cancer but He asked for 15 more healthy years and got it. What about science then. All we can say Is Thank You Lord. If science is the rule then Gods miracles are the exception and we should be thankful for them. Because of this I believe God can create whatever He wishes and leave whatever traces for us to find out or be intruigued by. Funny some have to fight about everything. I used to tell the kids, if You throw candy at them they will start fight over it. God created a world for us and we fight about how it was made. We are no better. Shame on us, we ought to run 7 times around our houses to calm down sometimes.

You have some sort of misperception. yes, you do need to 'read the word' to understand it. If all you are in here for, by the way, is to lash out against people for their beliefs. then get out of the forum. We are trying to help you understand. I didn't even grow up in a christian household, so dont assume things about me.
You however, seem to feel it is your duty to negatively associate everything we say. What if that was what we were here to do? How would you feel if i started telling you, that if you can't see it, or prove it, air doesn't exist? We can prove that God exists. You just have to be open to seeing the Truth. I feel bad for you if you cannot accept it. Because that means you are very limited and close-minded. Do yourself a favor and read the Bible, just so you aren't ignorant about it.
