• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've posted in the Theistic Evolution forum before -- when I had a friendly link that I thought would interest them about a particular person. For discussions (debates) theres always the EvC forum, or for theological discussions related to origins there's the forum one level up from this.

I'll give it a shot. :) (Mel makes mental note to streamline the rules)

- Over all of the Theology forums, debate is limited to Nicene-compliant topics.
- Flaming/harassing/personal sniping is not allowed.
- The Creationism forum is for discussion of Creationism only, not for creationism vs. evolution debate

I'll try....
  • Anyone can post anywhere
  • Areas can be limited as to topics.
  • The people in those areas get to hash out what the limits are.
  • Focus on the topics, not the people (no personal attacks)
  • Break the rules and you might be subject to a PM from a moderator and your post may be deleted
  • Mods have a tough job - trying to keep peace and keep discussions going without the same kind of "teeth" that they had before
  • If the problem is really really really really bad, you might be kicked out
  • Report, ignore and pray for obnoxious folks.

Thank you.
So does "creationism nonsense" from post number 1 break the
"Flaming/harassing/personal sniping is not allowed" rule?
Because that's just the kind of belittling I am sick and tired of.

May I ask if I have interpreted the new rules correctly?

I am married to a Creationist. He is not very good at explaining his faith to me, a secular Humanist, and I really don't have a good background in his faith. He does not "believe" in the theory of evolution, and couldn't really tell me why (It was just wrong).

I joined these forums in order to understand better, and after some 2 years of reading I have realized that his objection to the theory of evolution is because he, as a Creationist, believes that death did not occur before the Fall.

You all could have answered me in a second if I had posted here first.

I can imagine that I may have questions (not debates) that it would be nice to ask more eloquent Creationists.

Thanks

BTW, married 16 years, 3 great kids, questions about our origins are an infinitesimal part of our marriage, but I am of an inquiring mind.

You will not find a better bread of Creationist anywhere else. I'll give that to them. Our regular creationist know as much about creationism as any creationist could know.

I have something that might help you understand it a little better. It's first of all doctrinal, particularly with regards to sin and the consequences of sin as taught in the New Testament.

I hope this helps a little.

You can't help yourself, can you?
Even when you're apologizing you're condescending.

The Creationist view is not only supported by the evidence, it is supported by the Word of God.
When the end of the world comes,
and every knee bows,
and every tongue confesses the Jesus Christ is LORD
to the glory of God the Father,
then we'll see who saw the truth.

You're wearing the wrong glasses.

Great! Now please start thread in EvC forum so we can look at your evidence
The evidence is the evidence.
It's how it's understood and interpreted that is different.
I am not going to engage in a discussion with you.

Without faith it is impossible to please God.

Right. That's just who we are. No need to post evidence. We already know how that ends.

If I may, that seems to be to be a real, honest question, not bait for an argument. I appreciate your attitude. If I have understood you rightly, where would you like to start?

(And yes indeed, I am articulate. Not necessarily knowledgeable, but articulate, sometimes even eloquent.)
