I've had threads pushed down and only gotten a few posts because the board was flooded not long after I posted. I'm not comfortable bumping my own threads when no one seems interested.

I like the idea of limiting article posts. We would still get the best Michie can find (and she does post some very good stuff). It just seems like too much is overwhelming.

Last I looked here it was agreed by David & some others that it would be 5 main & 5 politics. It's an honor system, not a rule. and even with that limit, I have not been posting even that. I personally like the 5&5 because it's not too limited or too overwhelming.

I've explained before why it was started in the first place & it did develop a following but it is a lot of work. The only reason I continued was because of those that did like it & expected it.

But I'm enjoying not feeling so tied down to it & others are free to post anything they find of interest. I can participate more here as a member as well.

This was never about hogging convo or what have you... threads can be bumped.

I'm going to give the 5&5 a shot & see if it needs to be tweaked down the road.

I'm glad you all are discussing it though. I've wanted to get people together for a couple of years over this & other issues & it never worked out.

It's not like I particularly enjoyed it, it just became a thing with those that enjoyed them so I felt tied to it in a way.

So all the conspiracy theories & rumors of the past are hopefully laid to rest.

But I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments & appreciate it. Long time coming. Happy Easter everyone!

But I agree that it should be a rule of thumb, honor system kind of thing.

Conspiracy theories & rumors. Trying to knock people's posts off the page. Trying to get people banned. Reporting people in groups, etc. This is what Mike referred to in the other thread. I had certain FB people coming to me saying that certain people were saying this. I was invited to a group under the guise of promoting Catholic teaching. When someone posted something untrue concerning Catholic teaching. My job? Post something to correct the error. Turns out it was something else all together & the ring leader got ugly about it. During this time, I was not on OBOB much as I was moving rocks, doing landscaping, etc. These group PM's were read by me usually way after the fact or whatever incident happened. I accepted to be polite & it bit me in the butt.

Long discussions & fact checking was done in MSC & the ringleader was banned. But it seems he left his mark concerning my character.

But people still love to bring it up & imply that I am in fact a very nefarious character here on OBOB. But I think that speaks more of their character than mine.

My halfhearted acceptance of an invitation & speed reading along with my sporadic presence here during that time left it looking like I was actively doing things I had no intention of doing.

In short, I was careless & stupid for not giving it more attention than I did. But I had real life to attend to. *shrug*

I've even asked David in the past to look things over again so if he saw wrongdoing on my part to let me know so I could publically apologize on the board.

I never heard anything back from him. But I do think he'd agree I was careless & stupid for not paying more attention.

Once upon a time, we had an open report system here. When a thread was reported, the person who got reported could read the text of the report and then work with a team of mods to determine if a rule was broken. There were a couple of dishonest mods who ruined that by taking their conversations off-line, as working in the light was not their style. There were also, thankfully, a pair of heroic gals who were modding in OBOB who wouldn't play those games and stuck up for the people, always operating with integrity and openness. Neither of them post here very often anymore, unfortunately. One of the problem ones does, but she's no longer a mod.

With out reading all the posts in this thread Michie, my 2 cents... its not the articles per say but its that in IMO, you post them to say what you will not come out and say for yourself.

Fr Corapi and the sex scandals is a prime example. You don't want to defend the guy so you'll post an article that does it for you. That can be a bit off putting.

I never know with Mike. I like Mike but I disagree with a lot of his tactics. I have nothing against the guy though. I think it's pretty apparent he has a heart of gold underneath the gruff. And even with our long history of bad impressions, misunderstandings through the gossip heard, & bickering with each other I know if I needed help... he'd give it. I'd do the same for him. I guess that's all that matters.
