You work too hard, Mich.I realize it's a sort of ministry for you, but you don't want to get totally burned out, the way I did with apologetics back in 2003-04. I still don't think I could go back and do that again---I was pending great four-hour chunks of time at a whack, carefully and painstakingly explaining things to fundamentalist Protestants who didn't give a rip one way or the other.....but, at the same time, others were reading the stuff I wrote, and they were encouraged by it, and some even converted.

Bene,I read the thread... So what conclusion have you all come to? Are we limiting the number of posts/threads we can make a day?
You know, I'm for less rules, not more.
I think David is going to help me with a poll after Easter. This is just the discussion thread. Right now, I'm saying 5 & 5 but have not come anywhere near to posting that.I think 5 and 5 is too high, I prefer 2 and 2.
Content doesn't matter, if the number of threads is limited so that other people are given the respect in having their threads stand for a time before being pushed out into obscurity.
Few people scan beyond page two on this forum, for they figure the latest threads are what's the subjects being discussed and those beyond page 2 are old hat, so to speak.

Im just not understanding the need of all of this... why is this even a issue? I don't care how many you post. you should be able to post what ever, when ever, how many ever times you want. If some person disgrees with the contents of your posts/threads, well, too bad. However they should be free to challenge what ever you post, respectfully of course. Attack your articles, not you.
OBOB is Abandoned I just saw it as an opportunity to get things straightened out & to get me off the treadmill.I don't get it. There must be more to this that I don't know about.
Thanks Bene. I brought it up myself after another thread asking if OBOB was Abandoned. Anhelyna mentioned it & I seized the opportunity. I have asked that we all get together & iron out differences for years & was always refused. So I ran with it.

I vote for 10 and 10.
I don't think any one poster should dominate thread creation, it just isn't kind. Maybe observe the norms of the community for a week or two, and then mold yourself after the most prolific thread creator? I think 5 and 5, 10 threads a day, is rediculous. If you have a lot to say, go nuts...but if you're just going to link to other people's garbage, please keep it to an absolute minimum. If you want to discuss and article, that's awesome...but please don't post things that you are not personally interested in discussing in the hopes that someone else will find it interesting. We all have the Internet, we can find our own uninteresting articles and opinion pieces.
I just can't see why it bothers you. as long as they aren't open to distract or to bait anyone, in order to get someone in trouble. I don't see why anyone should care how many.
There is a huge issue however if it bothers people becuase they want Catholicsm to be one way or the other.
Lets say a serious liberal is wating to shut Michie down becuase they have a liberal agenda to push and she is monkey wrenchig that plan or a traditionlist is putting her up to posting them 50 times a day to shut down the libral... that is when it gets to be a problem.
So is that why it bothers you? That's not still going on, huh?
I've told people that they can post what they want too. I say go for it. You'll see....it's a lot of work & makes it near impossible to operate as a normal member.
It bothered (past tense) me because the forum was dominated with news link threads with no personal input. In my view they completely spammed the place.
thats why it bothered me...![]()
There are several places I check for news Bene if you want them. I'll still read it for myself but that's it. If interested, let me know. For the most part, I like the info and the subsequent debates they spark. It keeps me in the loope or does when I'm on this site rather. I can have conversations with people I meet and they think I am super smart who knows so much stuff.
