  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Which demographic would that be, Creech?

Wealthy whites have a very low rate of street/violent crime, therefore it would make sense that a white guy in a suit would not be stopped as often as there is a FAR less chance that he would be involved in that type of crime.

So you agree that he was only stopped by the police because he was not a wealthy white? Your honesty is refreshing.

Well I think it is fairly clear that more blacks are stopped by police than whites. I don't see this as a bad thing tho, and I am not against criminal profiling. If you are looking for Wall Street criminals, look for wealthy white men. If you are looking for violent street criminals, look for poor minority members (mostly).

As no crimes have been committed here, your point is irrelevant. However, your point is also racist and inaccurate.

I think it has more to do with attire than race. I don't think cops are going to stop someone who is black that is wearing a polo and khakis. They'd be looking for someone wearing gang colors, or hoodies, etc.

I really don't think this has as much to do with race anymore as it has to do with how people are dressing.

I'll admit my mistake. Heck, I'll applaud the Minnesota legislature for requiring an actual arrest warrant for some many offences. It is rather different in every State I've practiced in, but I was lazy and didn't look it up.

As to the pubic easement, right of way, I'm afraid I'm not willing to go to the plot index or grantor index to determine whether or not the particular space in question was subject to a public easement.

I hope that Minnesota has enough judges to handle all of the warrant applications.

Speaking from firsthand experience, I was in a yellow polo shirt, khakis and the police stopped me for allegedly trespassing on train tracks (I was not even near them). They detained me and checked me for warrants, so no, it's not just about how you dress.

And this case happened in the winter, everyone is wearing a heavy jacket with hoods.

Unless we are talking about the MPD, in which case they don't care what color you are . . . if you are not law enforcement or significant government. . .. well, what was that quote from Bladerunner Oh yeah, that was it. Oh wait, we are talking about the MPD, just another street gang.

It has everything to do with race. As a Minnesotan who lives nearby I know this better than anybody. So do the whites who voluntarily came forward to Mayor Coleman's meeting and said so.

The real problem is that a police officer that looks at what you wear and makes a judgement about that is an incompetent cop. Crime is behavior, not look.

Right, because gangs never concern themselves with "colors"

Non sequitur. The response was to a statement made in general

Non sequitur if your statement doesn't apply to the situation in the OP
