Doh! I got that wrong before. What about sanctification? Can His divine power not perfect us, sanctify us? Here and now?

Never within a bulls roar of the sinless perfection of Christ.

This is the beauty of salvation...

Hebrews 10:12
but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Strong's Concordance
eti: still, yet
Original Word: ἔτι
Part of Speech: Adverb
Transliteration: eti
Phonetic Spelling: (et'-ee)
Definition: still, yet
Usage: (a) of time: still, yet, even now, (b) of degree: even, further, more, in addition.
HELPS Word-studies
2089 éti (an adverb) – properly, continue (remain).

We never in this life cease to be sinners.

Then what did 'The Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world' die for?
What about Christ's victory in us, over flesh?
How does He set captives free, if we're still in captivity?

Being a sinner does not mean one is captive.

However sinning unconfessed and/or continuing to sin, likely will indeed lead to spiritual bondage.

To be released from bondage one must repent and renounce it's source.

Remaining IN Christ is where our freedom is.
Starting to realize it's not a matter of where we are in our walks because in reality it's nothing we've done.
It's what he did on the cross and continues to do in us.
As long as we remain IN the LORD.
We have life,
"Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are IN Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."

We inherited our sinful flesh from Adam, thus until the 2nd coming we are still sinful. But through the power of Jesus we don't have to commit sins. He sets us free from the power of the sin dwelling within us.

Rom 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Rom 7:19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Rom 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Rom 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Rom 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

  1. We have this verse given to us....

    Matthew 5:48
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

    And we have...

    Genesis 17:1
And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.

    And Christ Himself says....

    Matthew 19:21
Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

    And then we have this...

John 17:22-24 King James Version (KJV)

22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

    So what does it mean.
Dear Lord, deliver me from the KIng James Version............

Inwardly, we are already perfect. We are new creations in Christ Jesus. We are righteous, the righteousness of God in Christ. We are complete in Him. As He is, so are we on the earth.

Outwardly, we are imperfect. We need to experience the division of soul and spirit, which requires revelation of God's word by the Holy Spirit. We need to experience the salvation of the soul. This is moment by moment, day by day. To be born again is to receive Christ, all that He is and all His power. This is in our spirit man. The soul must be retrained, so to speak, to express the spirit of the believer instead of the nature that he received from Adam. This is a lifetime work.

As unholy (sinners) don't inherit the kingdom of God, how does one get to heaven?

While we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

When you are born again you are transferred from one kingdom to another.

From then His blood through the death of Jesus covers your sins so He is seeing you as sinless.

However we can still stray from His good ways and need to repent and return to His blessing in the Kingdom.

Repent means 'turn away from'

Yes it does, but that does not render us immune to sin or within light years of the perfection of Jesus.

He who claims to be without sin is a liar.

1 John
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Please give biblical reference so we can consider the context and the Greek.

Are you claiming to now be as perfect as Jesus in every thought and action ? ? ?

How do you account for the following....

Galatians 6:1
Brothers and sisters, even if a person is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you are not tempted as well.

1 John 1
5 This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; 7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous, so that He will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

James 5
confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed.

Philippians 3:12
Not that I have already grasped it all or have already become perfect, but I press on if I may also take hold of that for which I was even taken hold of by Christ Jesus.

Would Jesus have done exactly what you are doing each day.

If so you life would have rocked the world like His did.

It's impossible to be without sin as we're born in sin by nature.
In the end those who are under the blood of the LORD and abide in him will finish the race no matter where we are in our walk as there's NO condemnation for any in Christ JESUS.
Now remaining in the LORD is the difficult part at least for me as I'm not very far in my walk.
But I've come to understand that this race isn't so much reliant on us but on him and his Mercy.
He has his own who he choose before the foundation of the earth and no matter where we are be we just coming back to him, a New creation or someone who's walked with him 50+yrs.
He won't lose any who are his.
This is all just my understanding though. So please correct me if I'm wrong but being as the LORD is isn't possible for us as our righteousness is as filthy rags and ALL fall short of GOD

John also said 'if we sin, we have an advocate with The Father, Jesus Christ The righteous'.

IF we sin, is not an excuse to sin.

The H.S. empowers us to captivate sinful thoughts, and overcome the temptation to sin.
Do we think John sinned often? Or Paul?
Or did he fight the good fight to receive the prize (of his heavenly calling)

Thanks to Jesus, We have been given the gift of His divine power, to be more than conquerors...IF we are willing to receive...
