Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I mentioned a couple times in some of the threads that I would be taking off 2023. I felt it appropriate to at least leave a comment here as to some people take intermittent breaks.

This will be my first time taking an intentional break. I also made the decision to take a year off from online dating. We shall see where things land.

But I wanted to say a thank you to various members these past 2 years. @Miles I was glad to see you here when I returned and a few others @Saucy ,@MehGuy , and @ReesePiece23 .

A special thank you to the council I received and sympathetic hearts when I initially came back in 2020 to @bèlla ,@Justsomebloke, @Tone, and @SarahsKnight. :holy:

I enjoyed some of the humor & fun that @shineyourlight , @mojoboy31 , and @ReesePiece23 provided and hope it continues. I enjoyed sharing pictures and comments between @Sif (amazing photos and interesting to find a woman who has done solo hiking, which I want to someday), @d taylor ,@Anthony2019, and @Kwilson .

Wishes for keeping on track with health to @TheRealAriel , @mojoboy31 , @Saucy and @Miles . Best of luck with that job interview @Saucy and girl hunting if you so choose. And @Miles excited for this next chapter in your career. I've enjoyed exchanges and support from @GodJesusAndChocolate ,@Lost4words ,@angelsaroundme ,@RileyG, @Isaiah 2:22, ,@DragonFox91 , @J Mick , @.Mikha'el. , @peaceful-forest , @linux.poet , @pen_and_poetry , @GodDoesListen55 , @YankeeGirl , @public hermit (enjoyed gardening conversation) and @Somber .

@bèlla a special thank you for imparting wisdom and council to more than one of us and seeing it as a ministry.

I was excited to see the participation in the thread about members here meeting up virtually or in person. @TheRealAriel I hope you are able to host at least 3 women in the New year. @public hermit, @d taylor and @Miles I hope you'll get to cross paths in person with possibly a fellow brother here.

Hope I'm not forgetting anybody. This has probably got to be the longest temporary farewell. I can see @ReesePiece23 rolling his eyes right now, haha. God's blessings and abundance in 2023 to everyone!
You're going to be very missed. Take care, and be well!

Hello everyone, wanted to introduce myself. I’m not a new Christian but I am new in the sense that I identify a lot more seriously with being a Christian and on top of that to live as one also. It’s taken me a lot of trials and experiencing the challenges of our current world to bring me to this point but I thank God for it. I just want to live for God now and love people the way that God was merciful to me. Thanks for listening.

It's been a long time since I've been back here. Being the original author of this thread. A little bit of history lies within the author.

God Bless,

I’m new to christianforums but I’ve been a dedicated born again for ten years now. I only really started reading the Bible and doing Christian activities daily two years ago and it’s like the more time passes, the deeper I get. There is a lot more about me but I’m not much of an over sharer, as I like to create some mystery.

Hey, I'm new here. Been feeling sad about being single but praying for God to show me what His plans are for me.

Hello all

Then, welcome, Miss .Iona. *bows*

The community's gotten a lot more scarce these days than it used to be, but even so, we're glad to see a new face. ^-^
Hope you find your time here both welcoming and worthwhile.

Hello, again. I was cleaning up some old accounts online, and was a bit surprised to find I still have an active account here. I was tempted to just close my account out, but on second thought I decided to keep it. I haven't been to Christian Forums in nearly ten years, so I imagine a lot has changed. I've changed as well, though I'm still single, so I thought I'd drop in on the old stomping ground and see what it looks like these days.

I have been a member here a few years. One time I was reading old posts in the Introduce Yourself thread & it was so different back then. One difference I notice for example is that the Singles now are more ‘in the never been married’ category. Another difference is what people did is very different, they were more involved in more things, for example church ministry or volunteering, & taking care of their kids.

Somehow I woke up one day and I'd gone from "not yet married" to "never been married." I've noticed single people are different in the world than they used to be, in a lot of ways. Personally, I'm at the point where I've just about let it settle in my mind that I'm meant to be single, which is a whole different thing than when you're waiting and hoping and praying for that special someone.

As far as churches go, I can't really speak to that; it's been some time since I stepped foot in what most folks would call a church. My congregation is a house church, and while we minister to one another, our meetings lack a lot of the opportunities a larger church often has.

A lot of people think that’s how the early church met. I’m not as familiar w/ why or when they moved to dedicated buildings, but a lot of people think it’s a remnant of temple Judaism or paganism. I wonder if the crowds just got too big too!

Today many churches w/ dedicated buildings, their people will often host Bible studies in the home.

Does your house church have a dedicated teacher or rotating teachers?

I can't really put my finger on it, except to say I just can't see myself being married. With age and experience, I've seen more clearly the challenges marriage would present for her and for me, even on the best of days. Given my health and circumstances, I'm not sure it's fair to inflict me upon a woman unless God very clearly calls us both to that.

We have one person who reads the text aloud as we follow along, and then there's a different person who talks about the history and context. We can all contribute to the discussion, but generally it's those two working in tandem to lead the rest of us.

You have a good attitude. You remain open but are wise to the challenges that'd come. Keep that attitude.

Oh, that sounds like it'd be good! Keep doing it.
