Warrior when were non-Catholic allowed to start modding? How are they going to know how to mod threads that related to debating Catholic teaching, etc. if they don't know/believe in that teaching?

It has been the rule since the structure was changed from area admins to admin teams. Basically mods can mod anywhere on the board. There is no longer an OBOB team (so to speak), but mods on various teams with team admin who have asked to be modding OBOB. This is how it has been for quite some time (since shortly after the new ownership). Even though the mod situation changed...We still have the FSG's:

Statement of Faith

The Catholic Church is comprised of all Christians and churches who are united in full communion with His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI.

1. This forum is open to those who accept the teachings of the Church, for debate, discussion, and fellowship. It should be noted that acceptance is different from agreement. Catholics may not agree with certain teachings, but they assent to those teachings as a lamb would assent to the gentle prodding of the shepherds crook. It is hoped that through dialog, those who agree and those who struggle can learn from each other and grow to better understand the truths of our beautiful faith.
   
   
   
2. Active Promotion of views contrary to the teachings of the Church is prohibited.

There is to be no irrational liturgical prejudice. Whether a person attends the Ordinary or Extraordinary use of the Latin Mass, or an Eastern Rite Divine Liturgy, their liturgy must be acknowledged as fully Catholic and of equal dignity with all other Catholic rites. However, liturgical preferences may be expressed, but only in a charitable manner.

As well as the congregation guidelines:

"Congregational Forums wishing to remain safe havens may choose to limit debate to members of their own denomination, insist that all posts conform to their creed etc."

So non-Catholics are not allowed to debate anything in OBOB, not just theology but anything. And any mod must enforce them.

The person you are talking about, that is their title in their church. Their church is Old Catholic. No one is masquerading as anything and no one claims to be a Catholic priest as we understand it. I understand your worry about confusion but a quick check on the facts of the case and any confusion is avoided for anyone who is confused.

Davidnic, everything you state is true. I am not trying to say anyone is trying to masquerade. I am just pointing out the obvious that people who visit CCR can be led to the wrong conclusion. My concerns stem from the following experiences I have had with this:

1) the first time I saw this person post I thought he was a Roman Catholic priest, but that was quickly dispelled by a visit to his html. Frankly, I never knew Old Catholic even existed prior to this initial experience which is why I looked up the denomination to clarify their beliefs. They do not believe in papal authority as well as other teachings of the RCC.

2) I was debating a moral issue in a debate forum presenting the RCC's views as my own because I specifically do not wish to fight on denominational lines. However, someone accused me of being against the Churches postition so I posted a quote from our Pope to support the fact that I was on solid Catholic ground. That was when I and the Church was personally attacked. Then for some odd reason CADan and the person we are speaking of showed up. Both refuting the Pope and Catholic teaching. I in fact was the one who had to clarify the the person we are speaking about was in fact not a Roman Catholic priest as he in no way explained his cerlical affiliation and I thought that was wrong.

3) The person we are speaking of has made his opinions on the RCC very clear to me and yet when CCR opened, he made a statement about finally getting their own forum.

I stand by what I have always opinioned and posted- I don't think it matters if the moderator is Catholic or not just so long as they are fair. But I never foresaw clergy crossing the lines. I know that in order to attend a service at a protestant/evangelical service I have to get persmission from my priest first.

I have no knowledge of the situation you refer to and it really is not a mod thing, sounds like more of a personal debate with people who happen to be staff. Honestly from my part I have never had any problem of that kind with him. But I do not venture into the debate areas that often anymore. Personally I have always found him upfront, kind and helpful to those in need. I might be missing your point. I can see where it might be confusing, if that's your point I think we got a bit off track. I hope if someone is confused they will ask him or do what you did and look up Old Catholic.

As far as needing permission from a priest to attend a protestant/evangelical service it is not strictly required, but it is something that a priest may ask his parishioners to speak with him about or do with some preparation. Like attending a baptism at a protestant parish is not something that we need permission for.

I'm very grateful to HOB for starting this thread (she's awesome) and really want to get off on a good foot after all the upgrades and with the new protocols. I know that some people are worried. Be it with all the changes over the past year, or worries about the past or whatever is an issue to them. And I would like us to get a good start and make the best of what we have.

There is only one coder. His name is SirAdrian who replaced Nexia just a couple of weeks ago. The only way to tell for sure whats on his plate is to ask him. There are some bug report threads though, maybe that would give ya a clue.

b) behave like adults; or
c) reread their posts before they are posted. If they think they'll be reported, edit the posts. If they don't care they'll be reported, don't edit the posts, but then don't complain about the consequences; or
d) apply to be a mod and see how things work on the inside.

We are not powah-hungry so-and-sos out to ruin your life... and if you think being given a Notice is life-ruining, maybe you spend too much time on the internet.

I remind you that if you have a problem with a staff member, this is what you need to do:

Issues with staff decisions should be taken to the staff member, then the reconciliation team, period. Don't post them, don't PM them to others, don't take them to Lee.

I'm guessing soon. Now that reports are working I am taking it that those who are supervisors should start making sure actions from this point on are consistent.
