I love what Derwin Gray says. He says that basically (I'm paraphrasing) The awe factor of who Jesus is and what he has done produces passion which leads to obedience.

Yes. When we see Him as He is, we become like Him.

When we see Him give His life for us, we are free to give of ourselves. When we see Him forgive His enemies, we can forgive our enemies.

One might say that if one's obedience has another source, it is not obedience.

Jesus will be the judge.

I don't think it's possible to prove that one has faith, but observing how one lives -- their "works" -- should give people a pretty good idea.
Our physical lives should be a drawing card to the lost, not a trump card.

There is nothing quite like having one's own doctrine then finding various out-of-context verses to prove it (with italic, bold, and large font to prove it.) The only trouble is... you're wrong. All your sermonizing won't change the fact that we are loved by God and have no reason to fear him.

If you want to tremble before a father who loves us, I feel sorry for you. Read the parable of the prodigal son to learn about the father's attitude. Then read John 3:16.

These verses show nothing before the Old Covenant was established.

I need a verse that shows BEFORE the Old Covenant. That is what you said, right?

Divorce was not permitted before Moses' time. From the beginning of time a person who divorced and remarried was called an adulterer .

Matthew 19:8-9
He said to them, “For your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. 9 And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another, commits adultery.” rsv

Why do people then allocate for people proving that they are Christ's on earth based on their deeds when Christ says it is by faith? Who can prove that they have faith? How would that be proven?

Usually, we can see for ourselves if people have faith in Jesus Christ. The do His gospel. Luke 10:27
We can usually know Jesus' followers by their fruits, deeds, works. We can usually know Jesus' enemies by their fruits, deeds, works. However, God always knows for certain which people have faith/obey Him and which do not. Romans 2:16

Matthew 7:15-27

5 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every sound tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears evil fruit. 18 A sound tree cannot bear evil fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will know them by their fruits.
Concerning Self-Deception
21 “Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’
Hearers and Doers
24 “Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock; 25 and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And every one who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house upon the sand; 27 and the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell; and great was the fall of it.” rsv

Why do you ignore Ephesians 2:10?

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. rsv

Jesus saves us so that we can then do what we were created to do (the good works that were prepared by God for us to do) and if we do these things until we die, we will be approved to inherit eternal life after we die.

Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God— 9 not because of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. rsv

Matthew 7:21-24
Not every one who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you evildoers.’ 24 “Every one then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house upon the rock;

I've read them many times. I've also read the following Scripture passages many times.

Philippians 2:12
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; rsv

Matthew 10:28
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him (God) who can destroy both soul and body in hell. rsv

1 Peter 1:17
And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile. rsv

1 Peter 4:17-19
For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And
“If the righteous man is scarcely saved,
where will the impious and sinner appear?”

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will do right and entrust their souls to a faithful Creator. rsv

2 Thessalonians 1:5-10
This is evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be made worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering— 6 since indeed God deems it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, 7 and to grant rest with us to you who are afflicted, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, 8 inflicting vengeance upon those who do not know God and upon those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They shall suffer the punishment of eternal destruction and exclusion from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at in all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed. rsv

I do not ignore Eph 2:10. I have it in proper perspective with other passages. So let's swap verses.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Rom 1:17

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: Rom 3:22

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Rom 3:28

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Rom 5:1

Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; Rom 9:32

Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: Rom 11:20

(For we walk by faith, not by sight II Cor 5:7

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. Gal 3:11

That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, Eph 3:17

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: Phil 3:9

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Heb 10:38

Now salvation is by faith and has nothing to do with works, especially of the law as James shows in James 2. The works James talks about are called fruit by Paul in Gal 5. Jesus said by their fruit you will know them. Jesus does not say by their works you will know them. The Christian is usually not even aware of their works/fruit.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? Mat 25

Paul calls his works of the law dung in Phil 3:8.

I am sure you previously posted the Christian will have works. And i agree with this except those works are fruit of the Christians new nature and often without knowledge of them/it. A tree or a branch bears fruit because it is what it does naturally. The tree does not work against nature to bear fruit.

I don't think most of us know people well enough to know. Maybe people we are fairly close to.

It's like so many preachers who have fallen to sexual and other sins and people don't believe it because they 'think' they know them although they've never met them in person or spent any time with them.

People think they know, but that is why people put on their Sunday face, to impress all the people that are going to judge them initially because they think they know.

That is why Christianity becomes people not being who or what they are, but trying to impress mankind, rather than God.

Well, so much for that religion of hypocrites and liars. Do you recommend a faith other than Christianity?

I recommend reading the Bible and building your realtionship with Jesus Christ who is the ONLY way, truth and the life.

To decide whether you like Christainity by never knowing Christ (Not that you do that, I'm speaking in general terms) is to place what other people have decided is Christainity instead of a personal walk with the Living God. People do not realize that Christ died to give us the Holy Spirit, God Himself living in us.

I would say that if the person does not seek the God of Christianity, but only the perception of what it is based on other people, than they have not really based their life and faith on God, but people's interpretation of Him.

I pray that you are in relationship with Him. He is the One who loves you more than you love yourself (and we humans love ourselves a lot). The beauty is in the relationship, the daily walk WITH God and not just a church attendance so God doesn't throw us into hell. There is a love aspect that is the true way.

Hope this makes sense. Ask questions if not.

Comparing this post with the one that you just made, I can't figure out what you're trying to say. You say that "People think they know, but that is why people put on their Sunday face, to impress all the people that are going to judge them initially because they think they know. That is why Christianity becomes people not being who or what they are, but trying to impress mankind, rather than God" and "People think they know, but that is why people put on their Sunday face, to impress all the people that are going to judge them initially because they think they know" and "That is why Christianity becomes people not being who or what they are, but trying to impress mankind, rather than God".

After that you say "I recommend reading the Bible and building your relationship with Jesus Christ who is the ONLY way, truth and the life" and "He is the One who loves you more than you love yourself (and we humans love ourselves a lot). The beauty is in the relationship, the daily walk WITH God and not just a church attendance so God doesn't throw us into hell. [Really??] There is a love aspect that is the true way."

Which one is it? The terrible hypocrisy and negativity of phony Christians or the loving relationship with God and Christ?

I really can't recommend what is called church these days. As pointed out it has become a circle in which to impress others and usually with a false face.

There are many churches. Are you judging them all as not meeting your standards? If so, what alternative do you recommend?

Lol. You are the one saying you can tell who is a Christian and who is not.

I am saying that it is people who think they know other people that concentrate on everyone around them and the other people, whether the other person's walk with God is right, instead of concentrating on themselves.

You have no idea what my relationship with God is and you have proved your own point in that you are a terrible judge of who is a Christian telling me to find Christ.

Thank you for proving my point that your inital judgement is many times wrong.

Work on yourself and God and I will work on myself and God.

By one post you profess to know me. lol. Get that plank out of your own eye and then, only then after your plank is gone, help me with my tiny, tiny sliver. (check out God's Word for His opinion on the plank and the sliver, not my words)

Start a conversation with me when you my friend are ready.

I have no idea what you're talking about. You have judged the church and now you're judging me. Neither one has any basis. I have no desire to start another conversation with you until your views on the body of Christ change dramatically.
