Doing the works of the Law of Moses cannot help us to become saved or help us to inherit eternal life.

Doing the good works of the Law of Christ 1 Corinthians 9:21 with the help of God keep us saved because these good works prove that we are Jesus' true followers and so these good works help to make us worthy to be approved to inherit eternal life after we die. Therefore a Christian who does not do the good works that he is required by the Father to do will not inherit eternal life. 1 Timothy 4:16, 1 Timothy 2:15
Jude 1:20-23
But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; 21 keep yourselves in the love of God; wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. 22 And convince some, who doubt; 23 save some, by snatching them out of the fire; on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. rsv

First, Jesus saves us as His gift to us and by this salvation we become His disciples. He saves us by removing Adam's sin from our souls and by removing from our souls all our own sins that we have done in the past.

However, we must then continue in our salvation by doing the good works that the Father in heaven prepared for us to do. These good works are commanded and not suggested. And, if we do the Father's will (continue to obey Jesus' commandments and do the good works that He has prepared for us to do) until we die, Jesus will then approve us worthy to inherit eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing (we could not possibly ever atone for Adam's sin, but Jesus did), it is the gift of God— 9 not because of works (of the Law of Moses or our own righteous works), lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should (are commanded) walk in them (to do). rsv

We were created to do good works while we are on earth so that we can be happy with God in heaven after we die. A true Christian, with the help of God, proves himself worthy to inherit eternal life by doing good works and producing good fruit.

Revelation 3:3-5
Remember then what you received and heard; keep that, and repent. If you will not awake, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you. 4 Yet you have still a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments (sinned against me); and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who conquers shall be clad thus in white garments, and I will not blot his name out of the book of life; I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. rsv

After we die, we each will be judged either worthy to inherit eternal life or unworthy to inherit eternal life and this will be determined according to each person's own works. We will not be judged on whether we trusted Jesus to save us. Jesus will save the righteous (good fruit producers) and grant them eternal life in heaven, but He will not save the unrighteous (evil fruit producers or non-fruit producers) and so they will go to their own appointed place in hell.

John 5:28-29
Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment. rsv

I love what Derwin Gray says. He says that basically (I'm paraphrasing) The awe factor of who Jesus is and what he has done produces passion which leads to obedience.

Yes. When we see Him as He is, we become like Him.

When we see Him give His life for us, we are free to give of ourselves. When we see Him forgive His enemies, we can forgive our enemies.

Many, many Christians believe that Jesus will save them and grant them eternal life no matter what they do. These Christians are deceiving themselves. We all shall reap what we sow.

James 1:22

There is nothing quite like having one's own doctrine then finding various out-of-context verses to prove it (with italic, bold, and large font to prove it.) The only trouble is... you're wrong. All your sermonizing won't change the fact that we are loved by God and have no reason to fear him.

Now salvation is by faith and has nothing to do with works, especially of the law as James shows in James 2. The works James talks about are called fruit by Paul in Gal 5. Jesus said by their fruit you will know them. Jesus does not say by their works you will know them. The Christian is usually not even aware of their works/fruit.

Paul calls his works of the law dung in Phil 3:8.

I am sure you previously posted the Christian will have works. And i agree with this except those works are fruit of the Christians new nature and often without knowledge of them/it. A tree or a branch bears fruit because it is what it does naturally. The tree does not work against nature to bear fruit.

To decide whether you like Christainity by never knowing Christ (Not that you do that, I'm speaking in general terms) is to place what other people have decided is Christainity instead of a personal walk with the Living God. People do not realize that Christ died to give us the Holy Spirit, God Himself living in us.

I would say that if the person does not seek the God of Christianity, but only the perception of what it is based on other people, than they have not really based their life and faith on God, but people's interpretation of Him.

I pray that you are in relationship with Him. He is the One who loves you more than you love yourself (and we humans love ourselves a lot). The beauty is in the relationship, the daily walk WITH God and not just a church attendance so God doesn't throw us into hell. There is a love aspect that is the true way.

I don't think most of us know people well enough to know. Maybe people we are fairly close to.

It's like so many preachers who have fallen to sexual and other sins and people don't believe it because they 'think' they know them although they've never met them in person or spent any time with them.

I really can't recommend what is called church these days. As pointed out it has become a circle in which to impress others and usually with a false face.

I have no idea what you're talking about. You have judged the church and now you're judging me. Neither one has any basis. I have no desire to start another conversation with you until your views on the body of Christ change dramatically.
