I thought the movie was decent, but I was expecting more.
Then again, there was only 10 people in my theater. I'm a firm believer that the more you have watching the same movie, the more energy the movie can pull out of the crowd.

I will have to disagree, everytime I spend time in a packed theatre, I go see it again by myself at a early matinee. This isnt live music or anything, I get from the movie what comes out of me... not a mass of people

Actually, when I watched the Ring, everyone was shrieking and screaming, and my wife and I were laughing our heads off at them. People were getting upset with us, the experience was ruined by what other people thought was scary and we didnt. The movie wasnt that scary, the average movie goer is lame.

The graphic novel is very noir. The movie was made just like the novel, so it too is noir. Not easily understood if you just sit there and watch without thinking about what's going on.

Well, I've found the movie is coming out April 1st. Looks like the best movie of 2005, and perhaps the entire millenium. Looks fan-frigging-tastic.

If you like vulgarity and boobs. I saw it before it came out because my boyfriend is manager of a theatre. He is a fan of all comic book/graphic novel movies and even he said it was tasteless. The movie could have been great without the nudity.

And yet it was still phenominal. The nudity and gore was there because it was used to amplify the scene. The graphic novel has nudity and gore, and so should the movie. This is the first movie that got the comics right.

Heck, the graphic novel has *more* nudity - Jessica Alba's character was supposed to be virtually naked in her dance scenes.

How is live music different for you?

I can sense what others are feeling, so this can help me enjoy movies much better with more people.

I saw The Ring by myself, and that movie nearly scared the life out of me.
It got great reviews from both the critics and the audience.
But I do see what you mean, especially with a large group of teenage girls over reacting in your ear.
I have seen theaters where half of the people talked the entire time, and shouted things at the movie or each other.
That really sucks.

I wonder what exactly did he do on the movie?

You could see his influence all over the movie, but him and that other guy have worked on other films together.
It was edited like Jackie Brown, and Pulp Fiction, all chopped up.
And like in those two I named, the characters are all linked some how.

I think I know what was off for me.
The sound track. I don't remember it being anything special.

Robert Rodriguez scored Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004) for $1. Quentin Tarantino said he would repay him by directing a segment of this movie for $1. Tarantino, a vocal proponent of film-over-digital, has said that he was curious to get hands-on experience with the HD cameras which Rodriguez lauds. When asked about his experience, Tarantino merely replied, "Mission Accomplished."

It seemed chopped up that way because the film was actually a mash of 4 of Miller's stories...

Based on the graphic novels "Sin City" (this was the first of all the stories and originally had no title, but Miller has since re-named it "The Hard Good-Bye"), "The Big Fat Kill" and "That Yellow *******", by Frank Miller. The infamous "opening footage" with Josh Hartnett and Marley Shelton is from the Sin City short-story "The Customer is Always Right" from the "Babe Wore Red" collection.

Tarantino directed the in-car talk between Clive Owen and del Toro's characters. Run a google search and you'll find confirmation on that (I checked a handful of sites to make sure)

I have been looking forward to this movie as well, I have been wanting to see it ever since I saw the first preview. The way it is filmed and the whole story line is ver interesting, but....


I heard a COMPLETELY SECULAR review of this film on the radio, and the man reviewing it said he does not recommend it at all and, if he could, would prevent anyone from ever seeing it. He said that is is EXTREMELY graphic, and that Bruce Willis is involved in a scene so terribly graphic that he wouldn't even begin to describe anything from it. Also, he said that in basically every fight scenev there is a silhoette of the cross in the background, as if to say that even God in His all infinite power and knowledge can't stop it. So, I don't think I am going to be seeing this movie anymore.

It looks stupid... and I don't like comic books.

I found the movie quite tasteful actually, i know some people dont like nudity and violence, but when a novel is written with such elements then a movie based off of said novel should also contain said elements. By the same right neither should a movie or novel be based on those elements (nudity and violence), it just makes for a horrible story.

The idea behind the movie and story is that there is corruption in every part of the city. There are few morals and even the heros have their problems - it is not meant to be a nice, squeeky-clean place. If you can't get your head around it, don't go see it. This movie ISN'T made for teens, it ISN'T a family movie so there will be violence, nudity and sin throughout. Why are you surprised with a name like "Sin City"?

I saw the movie. I was a little disturbed, but overall I thought it was pretty good. I think it would have been awesome if they would have put some clothes on. I understand the idea of developing a theme using nudity and the like, but really, alot of it was unecessary (IMO). Anyway, the filming style was certainly interesting. Did anybody else notice that Goldie was in full color, and Wendi was in full color too untill he realized it wasn't Goldie? Very interesting, it made me think about how when you see someone you know, they stand out simply because you know them. Like at school every day there just seems to be something different about the people I hang out with most of the time, even when they are in a crowd and I don't even see their face. Kinda wierd.

This movie sucked. Micky Rourke did OK but overall comic books are for geeks and homos. Don't go see it. I walked out in the middle of it. Terrible movie. I saw Sahara too which is way better and believable and then Upside of Anger which is totally believable. If you want to see a cartoon with Actor-but-animated characters who think they are this and they are that then go see Sin City. All the liberal critics gave this movie 4/4, 5/5 stars. I'll never trust a liberal critic's review again. Again, this movie is for and made by wannabe pansies. Save your money. I hate comic book movies too. Such a waste.

I watched the movie last night. It was gorgeously done. It was sad but intelligent and generally awesome. The gore was too much for me to want to see it again, but not so bad that I would rather have not seen it. I enjoyed myself.
