Two guys walk into a bar...which is kinda stupid when you think about it because when the first guy hit it you'd have thought the second guy would have seen it...

I left for work this morning at 200 am...78 degrees...
I got back to the house from work 700am...37 degrees...

I LOVE Texas weather...

We get that type of stuff in Louisiana, too.

It's so much fun when you go to bed and have to hae the heater on so you don't freeze, and then you wake up in the middle of the night sweating because it's so hot. . .:sigh:

And if anyone wants to temporarily exchange weather, we woke up to minus 33 degree F this morning.

First real cold snap of the winter. Been really nice with almost no snow.

Is it coincidence that with the first real cold of the winter, Scott is talking about taking off for the mission fields? Hmmm....

I'm snowed in Goderich, Ontario today. :sigh: I was going to drive up to Kincardine to speak with an LCC pastor and another pastor who quit the ELCA to be a layperson in the LCMS/LCC. :(

Really cold temps are a great aid to faith.

You demonstrate faith by driving long distances and knowing that God will send someone to rescue you if you need them. Of course one shouldn't test God by doing so with less than 1/2 a tank of gas or without good clothes and a shovel.

As evidence of the faith provided by such temps. You could come up here and observe that almost all people in North Dakota have the faith necessary to walk on water when it is well below zero. Temperatures warm up and most lose their faith and are unable to continue walking on water.

Such temps also bring couples closer together, wink, wink.

We also use lower temperature to meditate on the last days and the casting of unbelievers into the lake of fire.

On the worldly side...
It also shows you if your car has a problem. Maybe you are driving around right now in a car that isn't efficiently burning gas. If there is a problem, it will show up much more clearly at really low temps.

I should also note that it is useful in other ways. We do not have termits (at least none that attack homes), reason being we are too cold. Rattlesnakes are softies too. Mosquitos and flies show up when it's warm, but they pretty well leave you alone this time of year. Sunburn problems are limited too. Due to the thinning of the atmosphere's ozone, people should be moving 100 miles further north or south of the equator to have their risk of skin cancer the same as it was when ozone levels were higher.

It should be noted that panhandlers are also a thing of the past at -33. You don't even have to feel bad for those joggers with their faces contorted in agony since they are inside someplace.

That's just a few of the benefits.

That brought to me the story of the dyslexic, insomniac, athiest who laid awake at night wondering if there really was a dog.

:D

Yes, I love that one, except I say "agnostic" since technically those are the people who wonder. . .athiests don't believe. . .

Hey Dan! How ya been?

I'm suffering from burn- out. It's about time for me to take a mental health day at work. (call in sick) I haven't called in sick when I wasn't in over nine years. There is way to much estrogen where I work now.

Dan, back in October, we had "Camp PACES." Each class had to come up with a cabin name. We were the Smurfs because the class had thirteen boys but only one girl.

Did you know that the Smurfs cartoon was in reality pro-communism propaganda?

Think about it...
Poppa Smurf looked like Karl Marx, wore red, was the only one who was allowed to be incharge...
each Smurf had a particular job that they had to do, each shared everything in the village, were under the command of Poppa Smurf, all of the food that was harvested was put into the storage mushrooms and distributed equally, "farmer Smurf" didn't sell his food to "consumer Smurf," Handy and Painter Smurf never advertized their professions or got paid - other than their share of the communal food and land, etc....
The evil Gargamel wanted to capture the Smurfs and boil them to make gold. He was the evil capitalist who was only concerned with his own greed...

Hmmm:scratch:
