Do you get on with your siblings in your blood family?
Or is it...every one for themselves?
I was thinking on the story of the prodigal son today. My older sister left home and we never really bonded, she would push me away as the annoying younger sister. Consequently she made her own way and I had to make mine. I wondered how different it would have turned out if we'd been more partners and true sisters. We could have gone into business together or something like that and made a go of life instead of the 'me first' attitude I was brought up with.
I don't think she ever realised that she hurt the family more when she left. I have two brothers that are twins and they have gone their separate ways as well.
I think for daughters its worse because sons are favoured by mothers, daughters aren't good for much except either marrying out and having children or becoming over-achieving workaholics, which is the route my sister took, and I tried to follow.
What are your experiences, if you like to share.
