Any dog can be dangerous. I've met 'dangerous' dogs other than the ones mentioned up there.

I used to know a doberman called Riley... he was one of the sweetest dogs ever! And the dog closest to my heart was part doberman as well... couldn't get any more gentle than those dogs.

Bad breeders need to be banned and owners need to be more educated about the dogs they bring into their homes. The breeds shouldn't be banned. I love pit bulls, and I plan on getting one soon. I've never seen a husky who was a danger to kids. I had one when I was little, and he was my best friend.
nicci,
When you are ready to adopt your pitbull, I hope that you will save one from rescue. If it has lived in a foster home you will know so much more about it. It most likely will already be house broken, maybe even have a little obedience training, it's quirks, wether it is animal aggressive or not, gentle, playful, serious, food aggressive or not, so many important factors to know when adopting any kind of animal, but especailly a bully breed. When you get a dog as a puppy you never know what kind of personality it will mature with, since this breed has been breed to be dog/animal aggressive it is far safer and wiser to know before hand. One rule of thumb is "never trust a pitbull NOT to fight". When you are ready, let me know, and I can direct you to a rescue in your area! I am the mommy of a wonderful pitbull from rescue. My motto is "proud guardian of one of the most misunderstood and abused breeds on earth-A.P.B.T!"

I was planning on checking out rescues. I try not to support breeders. The animals we have need to be taken care of first. I will DIFINATELY let you know when I'm ready to adopt one. I can't wait! I'm going to be moving within a few months to a house with a bigger yard and more space in general, then I'm going to start looking for one. I do have other animals living with me though (no dogs); how do pit bulls in general behave around other animals?
