Rap is a genre of music. Nothing inherently wrong with it, though many rappers are vulgar. Christian rap exists. Check out The Cross Movement if you haven't. People who like rap say good things about Lecrae as well.

I believe that rap music is fine to listen to. That is if it does not cause you to sin or think of defying God. A few swears in a song isn't anything new in rap and is fine to listen to, but something that's about things such as lust, drugs, theft, and murder should be avoided. A genre I'd recommend is Gospel Hip-hop. It's quite literally the name, rap/hip-hop songs about Christian topics. It isn't exactly the biggest genre, but most artists in the genre are amazing. One of the biggest at the moment is (debatable whether or not he makes gospel music) Kanye West, so you should check him out.
