Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Should I be responsible?

Hey's guys, I have a question, Without going into a lot of details in which most of you know already anyway, [extended "family"]
The Lawyer made a terrible mistake on paperwork and charged me 375.00 for the paperwork and sent it out... Which come to find out is all wrong and was completely unneeded to begin with.
He realized this afterward and yet still is making me pay for it? Am I responsible for his mistakes?

Of course you're not responsible, brother Scotty. He wants you to be fooled into thinking you are, though. As a client, you're entitled to quality service. I wouldn't pay for it until the mistake was corrected.

What? Would you pay a plumber if he double charged you? Or would you just pay what was his due?
That is what I thought, But he says I am responsible. I am mad enough to chew nails

It can be distressing, but probably yes.
When a doctor's visit does not result in healing,
they are still allowed to charge thousands of dollars (or hundreds).

When a mechanic doesn't fix the problem, but put some hours in "by the book"
they still can (and often do) charge $750.

When a drug does not work, but it is "by the book" (and sometimes not) ,
even if it cost $2000.00 per dose, there is no refund.

If a carpenter or contractor does $5000.00 work on a chimney or a carport, and it still leaks later, or doesn't last long,
there's usually no refund (unless in the contract).

That's frustrating. Can you find a new lawyer? He's proven unreliable. You may not get your money back, but you can prevent him from getting any more of your money.

Your Father is rich. No need to spend a bit more worry on a measly 350. He can give that back to you 10 times over. Go and live, my friend, like the sparrows.....live!

As long as you don't exaggerate the situation or flat out lie, you can say what you like.

I work for a Personal Injury Lawyer and anytime we receive a bad review (almost never), our marketing team will take the steps to contact the individual and try to resolve the issue. If you are being wrongfully charged and the lawyer has admitted this, then just DON'T SIGN ANYTHING!!! If you already have, that doesn't mean you don't have a case. Keep ALL of your paperwork and if you communicate through email, great! Keep that too. I am not a lawyer, nor am I qualified to give legal advice, but if you feel wronged and have the information to back it up, then I would contact someone to help you.

Good luck!

It was just an answer and a quick claim deed. It wasn't like an official case or anything. But the Lawyer had forgot that He had covered it in the will and by that time it was to late. He had already sent it and now this has caused me even more issues because they are holding on to it and refusing to send it back lol.

Jeeze lol well, like I said I am not qualified to give legal advice. But I would seek out help from another lawyer because that sounds absolutely ridiculous.

Think of it as a God-charge payable to the overcoming your anger fund. ;)

That's why lawyers have the reputation they've had for millenia. Essentially what he's doing is theft. But you might have to hire another lawyer to get it back, which for that price isn't worth it. You could go to small claims court, but again it may not be worth the effort.

It isn't a bad report if you speak the truth, it is the Christian thing to do if it protects others from the problems you have had with him.

Two other places you could leave a report on his handling of your affairs would be the Bar Association, and the Better Business Bureau.
