Should Christians play video games?

I turn to God, but also I am escapist sometimes and play games to deal with the stress of such complex health issues. I don't play games as much now because I am getting married and my stress is much lower knowing I have a wife that will love me forever and I can turn to so we can pray to GOd.

I think vid games are ok once they're not rated M. Anything else is fine. I wouldn't give a T vid game to a child <13 though.

I play Minecraft, usually about three times a week but I've cut back on it to make more time for God. He has to be number one, y'know.

I'm surprised any of you people are on the internet and forums. Forums, and the internet, are far worse than any video game. There's false doctrines, stupidity, stress, trolls and other things on forums, never mind all manner of ungodliness and sinful garbage on the internet. So why you guys on internet?

Well internet and forums can be different and more useful for good purposes then playing violent video games, such as fellowshipping with other Christians and viewing sermons, etc.

As long as you spend time with God as well there is no problem. Heck, you could use XBOX Live to witness to players who may be unbelievers.

Yeah same here. I played minecraft a ton more then cod only because minecraft is loads more fun and there is so much you can do. I kind of miss spending hour on it just building stuff lol.

You could witness to players, that's a nice idea but it wouldn't be a very nice place to do it as there are a lot of atheists in the gaming community. You would have to get used to double the persecution because of how chaotic people can be. Especially in cod -_-

I think I've logged more hours into minecraft than any other game I've ever played and I've been playing video games since i was little. Shows how addicting minecraft can be.

I tried that several times with my friend on PSN but he's kind of stubborn and refuses to believe it.

I would love to be able to play a little bit of minecraft every now and then but, i'm terrible at disciplining myself and i would addicted again pretty quick and lose track of time that could be spend learning more about God.

Yeah that can be a problem for me too. I know there are some things where if I start getting into certain interests I used to have again it starts to suck me back into it. I had to take off the Spider-Man and posters from my wall to insure that.....

Haha yeah, I thank the Lord daily for changing me as all the videogames and systems i used to play are still in my room and surround me daily. I am always resisting to play them again. I actually had to uninstall all of the games on my computer and remove any anime pictures and old music i had so that i was no longer tempted to play them again. It was hard because that's like taking a big chunk of my personality and just throwing it away, but it's all for the better
