Hi members

This poll, started by drstevej, was PMed to me recently. I think that it does make a good point and I wanted it moved out of the Conservative Christians forum to the Announcement forum to gather input from other members as well.

The issue here is whether CF's name should be changed and its vision modified to reflect its current framework.

This site at the moment is at a cross-roads, and can go either way. It can either become:

1. A safe social community site with a heavy and strong Christian influence (with the vision being to offer a safe online community, and a secondary vision being to allow Christians to outreach to non-Christians) - which will allow for a name change;

OR

2. Return to a more restricted Christians-only site with a heavy emphasis on uniting mainstream Christians only with a less emphasis on outreach, in which case we keep the name.

Bear in mind that options 1 and 2 are both valid - there is a place for either forums.

I think that at this moment members are frustrated because CF is halfway between options 1 and 2, so members are confused as we have a vision that belongs to option 2 but a setup that is more like option 1.

Therefore, I think we need to make a decision.

I'm going to leave this up to the community. I've extended the above poll to 3rd of August.

I will listen to the members here, and will defer to the final decision.

Please feel free to discuss this issue in this thread.

Not that my opinion has ever meant anything...

But why can't CF be both? Why does it have to be an either/or thing?

We need safe guards and guidelines... and for what it might be worth, probably not much... but this wiki thingie is not easy to follow or understand. I don't have time to read every wiki thread, than let alone post my opinion... and than debate over it all.

Please Erwin... we need a balance... all things in moderation... it's okay to have rules that do not change. It's okay for members to give feedback as I'm doing now... but ultimately, we need strong rules that encourage outreach as well as a Christian community.

I am praying for a miracle. I don't know what else to do... other than to leave CF and I would prefer not to leave. This is fixable.

Please get rid of the wiki forums. Nothing will be solved using this format.

My opinion, for what it is worth, is IF this is a Christian forum..STAND up and act like it is. Make it a Christian site. Based on the Word of God and stop muddying up the waters. We are to be a light and salt for the world..there is none of that. SHINE JESUS shine..not wiki, or political correctness or mob rule or whatever. BE PROUD to be a Christian and stop pandering to a few.

My normal name on here is ZACTAK, but I scrambled my password a day after the new reforms as I did not support them. Since that time, I have lurked on occasion here to see how things are. I saw this thread and felt led to post here, and so I will.

Firstly, I think option 2 is the best option for this site. This is no offense to the non-Christians of this site, as I have respect for many of them, however this IS a Christian site. Something that led me to originally join this site in 2005 was how I could worship and talk with Christians. At times in my life, I have wanted CHRISTIAN advice, Bibilically based advice. The way CF was before, I was able to do that. With the new setup I am not able to do that. Now please know I am not by any means saying non-Christians advice is not important. I think it is important for Christians to have a place where they can be among themselves at a Christian web site. The current site is not by any means a Christian site.

Now, I don't believe the old system was the best system, and I believe there needed to be changes, but this new system is NOT what was needed.

Erwin stated in his recent post that option 1 will have a strong Christian influence. Again, this is not an attack on the non-Christians, but they are given just as much influence on the policy making and policy enforcement as a Christian... this does not make for a strong Christian influence and I believe under the current system this is true. Non-Christians should not be making or enforcing the policies.

If this site remains entirely open and remains completely how it is, this site needs a name change as God is not present here.. I believe this site is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I joined "Christian Forums". I thus expect it to be Christian.

Anybody, in my opinion, that is not a christian and is not happy about being on a Christian Forum,,,, should simply NOT BE in a Christian Forum. It has NOTHING to do with any discrimination, it is a fact.

After all, I am not a Muslim,,, and as such would never go to a Muslim Forum. Get the point?

The name, after all, speaks for itself.

My opinion:

Erwin-

I am going to verge you on a better level about this, and not condemn you on anything.

I believe you see that everything has fallen apart. As a Conservative, many of us have been slammed to the opposite side of the track for a "New Vision." Many of us help build this site from the ground up in the beginning with Christ and your vision........

What happened? I understand you tried a "New Vision" though it seems many members became scarred by this sudden shock.

Many members exited to find new Message Boards homes, and many Staff Members have resigned. They felt that their hard work and dedication was now suddenly worthless.


If you want to hear the Voices of the Christians...then see how many have pleaded with you. I will give my voice. Go with-

Option 2.


Maybe then, other Members will see that there might be hope of coming back here. I really no longer consider myself a member anymore. I registered in the beginning because I felt Christ. One year after, I joined staff. I left because I had too. Will I return to ever be a regular member? No. I have grown that I no longer need to dwell here.

However, the place should be a Christian site, so that new members can feel the joy and excitement I once felt every time I came here. In which they can also experience the Presence of Christ that I once felt here.

If you want to hear the words from God's children, then observe every word that is typed.


I hope you make the right decision...and see the future lost lamb that will come here and desire that INNER PEACE of TRUE Christian understanding.
