Voting age should be 21 as long as the drinking age is. Shouldn't be able to enlist til 21, either.
Boozing, killing and voting. The trinity of freedom.

Are they old enough to be tried as adults? Yes
Are they old enough to get a work permit and thus pay income taxes? Yes

Therefore, I have no issue with them voting.

People up in arms about it are upset about the fact that a demographic that doesn't tend to vote their way may get the right to vote. What's new?

Also, notice the folks falsely tossing around the word "socialism" as a scare tactic lol...priceless.

Contrary to what many on the far-right believe, public schools aren't promoting socialism. I've yet to hear of any teacher trying to promote the concept of removing individual ownership of property or the means of production.

Pelosi Says She Personally Supports Lowering The Voting Age To 16

“I myself, personally, I’m not speaking for my caucus, I myself have always been for lowering the voting age to 16,” Pelosi said when asked by The Daily Caller about her thoughts on the issue. “I think it’s really important to capture kids when they’re in high school when they’re interested in all of this when they’re learning about government to be able to vote.”

Capture kids while they're young, impressionable and learning about Socialism from their public school teacher. Sounds like a good plan for the new Socialist Democratic Party.

Was that not the original concept of the nation?

Yep.

Why should those who have no meaningful contribution get to vote?

ahhh yes and further more rich white men.

Those "rich white men" built this country. If you're just a parasite, you shouldn't get a vote.

That would leave out the bottom 40% of all Americans.

Exactly. People who take and don't contribute, shouldn't have a vote.

I'm not a property owner. Do you think that I have no meaningful contribution?
There are stay at home parents. Do you think that they make no meaningful contribution?

How do you figure that? Most of what passes for education these days is propaganda. Vast majority of teachers vote democrat and the unions are virtually 100% democrat.
Most of it? When is the last time you sat through a day in elementary school and what was the propaganda that occupied more than half of the day?

Why? Why should every mouth breather over 17 get to vote?
Because we're a civilized country that believes in the equal worth of individuals.

First of all, why is property ownership a contribution?

Secondly, our country was built by women, African slaves, Chinese immigrants and even some children. You think all of those people were sitting around drinking coffee while white men built everything?

I’m all for it. The laws our elected officials pass affect them, and we need more representation from the youth.

Young people have historically led the charge on social issues. The older people come around later. Young people were right about the Vietnam war, civil rights, and women’s rights.

I said property ownership or pay income taxes. You may contribute to society in other ways, but that does not mean you are qualified to choose the leaders of the country.

Because we're a civilized country that believes in the equal worth of individuals.

Individuals are all worthy in God's eyes, but that does not mean everyone should have rights to govern.

You have ties to the land, you have a vested interest in the country. If you are a vagabond, what do you care what happens?

For the second bit, just because they can stir a pot, pick cotton, or swing a hammer does not qualify them to decide matters of state.

Why don’t you think renters have ties to the place they live? That’s silly. I am about as loyal and fond of the place that I live as one can be. I am heavily involved in local politics. And I am a renter. Why are you categorizing renters as vagabonds?

Frankly, your dismissal of the role of women and laborers in society is disturbing.
