Capture kids while they're young, impressionable and learning about Socialism from their public school teacher. Sounds like a good plan for the new Socialist Democratic Party.

When they can be tried as adults, they can also vote like adults. Either they have the mental faculties to be responsible for their choices or they don't.

Older folks are more susceptible to fake news, all while screeching that whatever doesn't suit their likings is fake news. Teens at least are in school where they have more of an opportunity to learn actual fact-based news. I have no problem with 16 year olds voting if they want to. Considering how many folks over the age of 18 who can vote but choose not to, it'd be real encouraging if 16, 17 year olds had the gumption to register, vote. Care.

Personally, I think the voting age is already too low. There are a ton of ways voting should become more limited; age is just one option among many.

I think just the opposite on account of how the U.S. trails most developed countries in voter turnout

no I don't think people my age should vote if we haven't lived our lives yet and don't have enough experience to truly grasp what the problems are that is presented before us we have no right to choose which direction we go as a nation

How do you figure that? Most of what passes for education these days is propaganda. Vast majority of teachers vote democrat and the unions are virtually 100% democrat.

Age isn't really the metric by which I would determine who gets the vote. I guess a minimum age of 25 might be a good start (although I'm iffy even on that, tbh) but other factors should be included in order to refine the number of people allowed to vote even more.

Yes. Just like when voting rights to all us american males were extended, some people might have argued "next they'll let the women vote".

The point of an appeal to extreme is to escalate a reasonable request into an unpallatable request in an attempt to dissuade people from taking the reasonable request.

(I'm not saying that there is anything objectively right or wrong with any voting age, I'm just pointing out perceptions)

Yeah, because that's what all the kids are into these days...

If we can barely get adults to go out and vote, I highly doubt were going to get too many kids putting down the fortnite long enough to go take part in the legislative process.

First comes the idea of legal choice without parental consent to abort a child ( kill someone) at 15, now under age voting. What will they rationalize as acceptable next ? This is all about who they think they can garner votes from. The public school system is polluted with liberal thinking, so get em before they learn something else. She wants power for her team. Period, it's nothing more than that.

If she thought 16 year olds would be voting for the other side she wouldn't even bring it up. Get em while they're still brain washed.

i have a better argument. if you are working (as a teen) and have taxes deducted from your paycheck or have to pay taxes then you should be allowed to vote.
