They defend mediocrity, but then turn around demanding the “best of the best” in other situations. Like demanding the highest “qualified” immigrants while defending a person that can’t speak above a fourth grade reading level.

Didn't vote for Trump, and don't ever plan on doing so. But I can still understand he is not serious about crocodile moats.

It is typical of Trump to say absurd things. But the reason people think he is joking here is that if he wanted to kill all the people crossing there are more efficient ways than crocodiles, etc.

Trump says stuff, purposely so the left run media will run with it.... and they do..

"Water carrier"? Look carefully, friend. I want to make the Houses of Habsburg, Hohenzollern, Saxe-Coburg+Gotha, and Romanov great again (MTHoHHSGaRGA), not the House of Drumpf dem Bürger. It's just that (a) Trump is the most pragmatic choice for preventing Obama 2.0, and (b) I'm not so tight in the fanny that I can't recognize dark comedy when I see it.

They keep telling themselves it's comedy, yet an aide had to produce a report for him... and it was not designed to catch a whistleblower because that a dumb plan. Once you have someone making the report, they'll have to talk and work with others to compile this information, thus the idea that this will catch a whistleblower is nonsensical. If you are going to be outraged, why not be outraged at actual abuses by presidents? Bush sponsored torture and was designated a war criminal, Obama ran the extra-judicial drone program, sold more weapons and dropped more bombs than Bush, and Trump is on pace to pass them both for bombing.

All of the presidents have shown they can be quite lethal when they really want to, no crocodiles required. And our partner South Korea employs killing sentry drones that can shoot a person in rain or dark up to nearly two miles away to guard their border. Real abuses happen.

Yes, this is a joke. And it is also distracting from all the serious things going on that we are often a part of. We sent those troops to the Saudis to continue their war, and we helped with what has been called war crimes in Yemen as well. But because of impeachment and tweets we have already moved on from that news story, and are talking about moats.

I think Trump is opposed to further immigration at the moment. I think he has even used poor conditions as a disincentive, which is to me terrible. However, if he wanted to kill people crossing the border he could certainly find a way, and it would likely be a secret one we would know nothing about.

That's the thing with Donald Trump. So much of what he does is so surreal, so cruel and / or so massively incompetent it seems like it could be a grotesque attempt at humour but it's actually not a joke. He's implemented policies that have cruelty as the actual objective. His behaviour is frequently unhinged. It's what George Conway, the husband of White House counsel Kellyanne, has personally observed & called out numerous times. The pattern is for Trump to do something completely insane & for his defenders to then mock those calling him out on it to say he was just trolling or just making a joke, then he frequently turns around & doubles-down on it.

Meanwhile his policies increasing civilian casualties by relaxing rules of engagement, support for the war in Yemen, etc. go under the radar because we are talking about absurd statements, rather than actions.

The sweeping changes in asylum procedures were actions, not just comments, but were largely obscured because of his statements about senators going back to where they came from (though they didn't come from there).

Yes, those comments were xenophobic and racist. But the policy change that went through at the same time has much larger implications, and barely got press coverage.

Focusing on his crazy words (in this case rumored words) obscures his more impactful actions.

Who said I haven't complained about Bush. As for Obama, the Conservative Christians complained and made things up. During his whole presidency .So why would I believe anything the right says about him. And for Trump, he wants to kill the iligals, below the border. Unless hes just pleasing the Manly because they're poor. And if he could he would. And nobodies forgetting, what he did, that could get him impeached. I don't care either way about him getting impeached. I'm not the biggest fan of Pence. And neither are the Demacrats. I'm sure that's the reason they deal with Trump. You don't think Obama dropped large numbers of bombs, sold large numbers of weapons to countries that his own state department identified as human rights abusers, used extra-judicial drone killings, etc.? International media reported these things, not just conservatives.
