They cared enough to listen to her testimony, and to grant an FBI investigation. If they hadn't done that, then it would definately have been reported that they didn't care. But some people just can't be satisfied no matter what.

No matter what...??

That FBI ‘investigation’ was a watered-down whitewash. There are large groups of people, including Dr Ford, who asked to be investigated by the FBI, but were not permitted to do so...

C’mon.....

After Senator Flake threatened to vote no if they hadn't... but we're not supposed to remember that, are we?

The "win at all costs" mentality can occasionally be used to get something decent done.

She was already questioned by the Senators who called for the investigation. So was Kananaugh--extensively.

Either way, the investigation was done as the dems wanted. It's time for them to stop complaining.

Oh, she was...!?

Perhaps it was lost in the transmission across the Pacific, but I seem to remember Ford mainly being questioned by the female prosecutor that those brave Republican senators brought in to do their jobs for them...!

And Kavanaugh “extensively questioned”...?

Would that include the likes of Lindsay Graham throwing temper tantrums on Kavanaugh’s behalf...? Would it include the President blatantly lying on Kavanaugh’s behalf...?

Ummm...if it was done according to their wishes, why do you think there are still such strong complaints...?

They could clearly see the whitewash being applied....and I think many of you who supported Kavanaugh could see it too. You just want to forget about it and enjoy your ‘win’...

Ummmm, maybe it's because they still didn't get the result they were hoping for?

The result, or the process...?

Let’s be honest....short of there being videos produced, showing Kavanaugh with his pants around his ankles, drunkenly raping a struggling 15 year old, the Republican Senators were always going to vote for his confirmation. All they needed was to ensure that any culpability on K’s part was restricted to the admission that he “likes beer” and that he was no more boisterous than any other young man of the time...and they succeeded.

The ‘prize’ for Republicans has always been about the Court seats. They know they will lose the House and, while they’ll probably keep the Senate this time round, there’s a good chance it will change hands when more R’s are up for grabs next time. Getting more of ‘their kind of people’ on the Court, however, can have a lasting effect for decades.

And this is the only value most of them see in Trump. I’m skeptical enough to think that when Donnie has served his usefulness by appointing as many judges as he can, they’ll be happy to throw him under the nearest convenient bus...

What you're leaving out of the equation is that Ford didn't have enough evidence after 36 years to prove anything convincingly. Even the people she claimed could back her up could not. Some even said they don't remember the incident or weren't even there as Ford claimed. Just too many holes in her story. That's not enough to reject K's nomination.

Indeed... time for them to start campaigning...

I suspect that the Senate won't be very newsworthy after the midterm elections...

Campaign away! But if they lose again, then they'll be protesting away. It seems to always be one or the other.
At least the November elections will put everything to rest once and for all, right? ;)

It is the duty of the opposition party to oppose, right?

Simply by being in opposition?

They are serving their country by being against any action they think is detrimental to it... does the concept need that much explanation?

That might be the spin the dems are currently using as their justification for resisting, obstructing, opposing, etc. but to ignore the fact that they employed very questionable tactics to resist, obstruct, oppose during the Kavanaugh hearings makes the claim of "serving the country" seem rather disingenuous.

Since when is demanding that a woman who claims to have been sexually assaulted get a chance to speak before the Senate "questionable"?

She got that. It's the presumption of guilt that was questionable.
