Sharing the Psalms....

Show me your ways, O Lord,
teach me your paths,
guide me in your truth and
teach me,
but you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day
long.

Here the Psalmist is quite clear. We need to be shown the way and taught the path of the Lord. We need guidance in His truth. Our hope IS in God, our Savior, who sends His Holy Spirit to teach us. But how? I think we learn through our experiences: worshipping, praying, studying, serving...and through His Word...the Holy Scriptures..and others in the Body of Christ who God uses to teach us by word and example. As we follow His path we grow in wisdom and favor. We learn His Ways by what we do for others. As we are surrounded and influenced by a 'me first or me only society'...this is a challenge! Teach us, O Lord! Your Ways are not our ways. Your Ways are better.

I was looking for a scripture about God's creation or the creation of God's creatures and found Psalm 104:24. Also picked it for my new signature which is below.

Of all the Psalms, Psalm 23 will always be my favorite.
It brings me comfort and peace to know that the Lord
is my Shepherd. That He protects me, guides me, loves me,
offers me an eternal home and supplies my every need.

The law of the Lord is not a burden and is not cumbersome. When observed rightly it does not bind...it sets free...
Woe to the one caught up in the exact letter of the law who cannot meditate prayerfully on the Word but is compelled to only quote and preach. The water leaks from a vessel with this crack and is evaporated before there is a release of power. Power is not in the law itself, or the exact quoting of scripture.(even the Devil knows scripture)....power is in the Spirit of God.

I often turn to this scripture as a reminder that God's timing is not necessarily my timing. And it comforts me..to know that waiting is often the very best thing I can do as I grow in faith and trust.

Lately I've really been drawn to Psalm 27. It feels like the words are coming straight from my mouth. So many of the Psalms are like that though. That's one of the reasons I love them so much!

Sing a new song to the Lord;
sing his praise in the meeting of his people.

Ps.119

1. [24] Thy testimonies are my delight,
   they are my counselors.

God's counsel is above all others, but God appoints counselors whose testimonies are also a delight. The good counselor relies on the Word of God to give guidance and direction.

1 Protect me, God, because I trust in you.
2 I said to the Lord, "You are my Lord. Every good thing I have comes from you."
3 As for the godly people in the world, they are the wonderful ones I enjoy.
4 But those who turn to idols will have much pain. I will not offer blood to those idols or even speak their names.
5 No, the Lord is all I need. He takes care of me.
6 My share in life has been pleasant; my part has been beautiful.
7 I praise the Lord because he advises me. Even at night, I feel his leading.
