I'm trying to find where I ever said "everyone" likes it? That would be an idiotic statement seeing as how it is statistically impossible for EVERYONE to like anything? Heck, I've met Canadians who don't like Rush, as sick as that is....anything's possible.

Rush, the ultimate in Canadianism. Along with "eh," hockey, the term "hoser," "You Can't Do That on Television" from the 1980's, and a ton of awesome comedians and actors, Rush is the greatest national export! I grew up in high school playing my guitar trying to be Alex Lifeson and wishing I could play a bass like Geddy!

I don't know whether to laugh or be mortified that these are the things that are considered the ultimate in Canadianism. :)

They're not! I'm just being silly. I do remember when I was a kid watching "You Can't do That on Television" on this new channel, Nickelodian. The kids would say "dahd" and "hyews" and "abewt" for house and about. I thought, where are those kids from? LOL

The hoser thing is great.

Rush, God bless 'em! Hockey? Not a big fan unless we're playing Russia!

I don't know whether to laugh or be mortified that these are the things that are considered the ultimate in Canadianism. :)

He left out poutine, which I refuse to try, but my Canadian friends assure me is a divine gift.

I recall in the film Gremlins there's a little dig at Canadias as the characters go to a "Canadian Restaurant". They serve chocolate MOOSE

Hockey means something different for both of us.

I call yours 'ice hockey'

You would call ours 'field hockey'... our men's team got Bronze Medals in the 2008 Summer Olympics

But if I said "Australians are good at hockey" you'd probably have been surprised because of the different meanings

Nah, I've heard of both. I've even heard of street / floor hockey. We use play it here as kids.

Isn't it "the bomb?" LOL

When I hear "balm," I think of Jackie Chiles and Kramer:

"Did I tell you to get a balm? I don't remember telling you to use a balm? You put the balm on? Who told you to put the balm on? I didn't tell you to put the balm on. Why'd you put the balm on?" ^_^

Sorry, I meant just using ther word 'hockey'. For you that denotes one form and you would differentiate from the other by saying "Field Hockey" whereas for us it's the other way around.

It's exactly like the word 'football'. To an Englishman this means what we call 'soccer'. That's not to say you've not heard of soccer. But in his everyday use 'football' means something different to him than what it does to me.

"I sense great vulnerability. A man-child crying out for love. An innocent orphan in the post-modern world." "I see a parasite. A sexually depraved miscreant who is seeking only to gratify his basest and most immediate urges." "His struggle is man's struggle. He lifts my spirit." "He is a loathesome, offensive brute. Yet I can't look away." "He transcends time and space." "He sickens me." "I love it." "Me too."

"Yeah that's going to be a problem. It's gonna be a problem for them. This a clear violation of your rights as a consumer. It's an infringement on your constitutional rights. It's outrageous, egregious, preposterous....That's deplorable, unfathomable, improbable."
--Jackie Chiles

You guys are a riot! :D
