why wouldnt Hamlet be right??
I didn't say "right," I said "trite." :) Isn't Hamlet the stock answer to "what is Shakespeare's greatest work?" I hate being trite, but it is his greatest work.

My favorite play from is Taming of the Shrew. I played Katherine a few years ago... and it blew me away. I fell in love with it so much and still am. The thing is... my boyfriend at the time played petruchio but a week before the performance I broke up with him... and all the fighting was actually coming from the heart! ;) haha it was a great performance and would love to do it again.

Hello!
Having been directed here to the wonderful world of all things dramatic - by my friend Clare (Addapearle) - I thought I'd add my penny's worth...
Shakespeare is brilliant! He writes such brilliant characters, and plotlines (plus there's no royalties on his plays which is always good). I only wish there were more female parts... although obv. he's forgiven due to impending imprisonment of female actresses!
My favourite is Macbeth. It rocks in more ways than are possible to mention and I will gladly fight my corner against anyone who thinks otherwise!

I think its a good thing that they teach shakespeare in schools, cos like kilted said it does get people into reading it and altho it is intended for the stage and studying anything in school can bore you to death it does help you to understand the intrincacies of the plays - well, that's what I think anyway.

Oooh, and other people who've played Shakespeare parts - don't you think it's cool trying to get the pattern of the speeches down, and hearing the flow in the words when you get it right :)
etc etc etc various other high praise of Shakespeare.

Btw, its cool to meet so many other drama-type people (esp. Shakespeare fans - you've got to be pretty hard core to like this stuff, haven't u?)

Love, and melodramatic poses,
from RachelXXX

And Clare, face it - Patrick stewart IS old :priest: (minus the mitre and crozier obvioiusly) ;)

thank you Rachel!! Patrick Stewart is old... and wrinkly!!! MWAH HAH HAH HAH HAH!

ye i like trying to get the words to flow.. but its quite easy caus theres usually a pattern to his lines. :) .

MacBeth Rocks!! i mean he even had to Write an English version because it was sooo good!! heh heh. (Richard III btw).

Teaching in schools isnt that bad anyway.. i mean you do get to read the parts. :) .

About there being no female parts... my schools drama show was Romeo and Juliet one year, they had to swap all the roles so it was Gender Reversed because there were more parts than the boys could fill!!! lol. :D .

Hardcore... yes i like the sound of that!!! heh heh.

Even morely Exadurated melodramatic poses.

oh my... I was in the 12fth night play last year... but we had it based in the 60's... but with shakespearn languague... it was weird. I played Fabian as a girl... it ROCKED... I loved my drunkend friends! ;) I didn't like my director... she was rather umm had a bad attitude, I guess sometimes I didn't have the greatest attitude either because I got so fed up with her and I would talk to her... as respectivly as I could... like I remember I was so overwelmed with it I started crying at a practice... on stage. The most embarassing thing ever... and her and I talked for like hours... about how I'm considering quitting stuff... she was begging me to not! I'm glad I didn't because it was a great experiance. :)
