• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Is anybody aware of there body at all times? Like when you sit a certain way around others? Like if I'm wearing shorts I notice my legs a lot. I never sit with my legs spread or any way that would cause someone to fall (I guess that's a good thing). I sometimes look at my body lustfully. So I guess I'm self conscience about how my body is positioned. I have a leg fetish so if my calves are showing a certain way I'm aware of it and position myself differently. I wish I wasn't like this. I wish I could live life with others without feeling self conscience about my body. Anybody else have issues like these?

It sounds like you are super sensitive to yourself. Have you considered at any point in seeking some counseling to help you identify what is going on that you are so aware of your body? Sometimes just having someone to sort things out with can be helpful.

I think it's good you don't want anyone else to stumble because of your actions. I also think that sometimes we are more conscience of ourselves in general, in many ways - for you it is your physical body.

A thought that comes to mind is related to what kinds of thoughts you might tell yourself about your body and how that impacts your feelings about your body. This is where maybe a counselor could help.

Take care - I'm glad you shared.

I've tried to talk a little bit about it, but it never gets really discussed. I also hate not wearing shirts (like for swimming) and too short of shorts. This also involves my fetish for bubble gum. I can chew gum and blow bubbles without being aroused, but don't dare to in front of others. I suppose I'm messing around with fire in that situation.

I think that you are suffering from self conciousness. Or shyness in the sexual area. I think you are feeling this way as you lust after others and imagine them lusting after you too. Life is not always like that, it is only occasionally that someone would find us attractive in that way most people just get on with their lives. If you constantly go to night clubs I would say that this is different as most are on the lookout there.
