In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Just finished some self-care. Made sure not to push my run and did only 5 minutes. Even that was pushing it. Spent time making visualization boards in a corner space and starting on the birthday present I was given of a wellness journal planner. Looked back at goals I made back in 2016 that were 5 year and one year goals. And updated that in the journal. It was neat to see how many things I thought were a dream but actually happened that I wrote down as a goal. Justin encouragement for those that are reaching far, it is possible with the Lord.View attachment 312873 View attachment 312874 View attachment 312875 View attachment 312876

Second weekend in a row staying home, which means not going to church on Sunday, to recuperate from Thursday Friday snow plowing. Better for catching up also around the house. Want to be sure to have my rest before the work week. Thank goodness I haven't had consecutive days of plowing like the regular guys. I think one of them said 14 or 16 days in a row.

On another note I got my savings account started for a car and will start up another savings account that gives $100 bonus at the end of 12 months if you make a certain amount of deposits each month. The first one I will switch to a car savings maintenance account. I've already got something wrong with my car now that I will take it in Monday. My goal is to have a good amount saved up by April of 2024 to buy my next used car. Most likely a Honda Accord, as those have been the best resale value and less maintenance cost.

My other goals are to start up a savings account for travel and a house after 2024. Hopefully most of my debts will be paid and I want to treat my mom to a trip.

And 2031 I'm hoping to have enough saved up for a trip to the UK. And France. I'd like to have enough saved up for a two-night stay in the UK at an AVEDA spa, but it seems like a far off dream since I need 50,000 points. Right now I have 15,000.

A few days ago i dropped my car off at the automotive place to be looked at and I walked home. Then I had to pick it up the same day and it was getting close to closing time so I jogged/sprinted there. I thought, wow I'm doing pretty good for not having exercised in so many months and wasn't even out of breath! But today I woke up with very sore muscles so I think it finally caught up with me! :muahah:

I drink too much and eat what I want. I rarely exercise. Now I wonder why I am so irritable and have so much anxiety. Yikes.

Your hair stylist has great sense of humor too!^_^

As for me, I take care of myself by exercising to the brink of intense suffering. Maybe I'm searching for something and blossom like a butterfly, I'm not really sure. It did help get my blood pressure down thankfully without having to resort to medication and may have cured my angina.

Been trying scraping on my right leg since I was introduced to it by my physical therapist a couple weeks ago. I was too aggressive the first time and having so much bruising and pain for a week. I went much lighter Saturday night along with a lot more massage. It seemed to help a lot. I think I might try a little bit tonight along with watching a little bit of a movie.

This is the first time I heard about scraping. Normally, I only do self massage with my own hands after exercise to help recover from soreness quicker and help avoid injury. When I saw it in a video, scraping looks painful especially with sore muscles after exercise!

It's interesting that you bring this up. As I was using it along with self massage for about 4 months. It was very painful, I think it was a temporary measure to break up tight muscles because of the intense endurance activities I was trying to do in a short amount of time. Unfortunately, the sports orthotics that my podiatrist kept tweaking, ended up giving me a rupture plantar fasciitis. I had to defer the marathon to next year.
And I will be focusing on rehabilitation these next 6 months. My right foot I can feel plantar fasciitis also. I have to use a splint at night. I joined the YMCA and I'm taking an active approach at rehabilitation with aqua jogging.

Mentally it was hard initially to figure my next step. But I had already planned in 2023 to start strength training and water activities. I'm hoping eventually to get my longboards back in the water. So I will be focusing on volunteering at trail running events, YMCA membership for the next 3 -4mths, nutrition and diet to bring my cholesterol down, weight loss to help with the plantar fasciitis and also my running form, strengthen the core and hips glutes area for running. Also strength training as it becomes important in your fifties with bone density loss. I am also hoping to build connections and community with Trail and triathletes. Where's my eventual goal to do a triathlon in the next 3 years.

Mentally to accomplish some of these goals I will have to cut out certain things. I will be shutting down all my online dating accounts for next year. Longer breaks with social media. Daniel faster in the lent season. And as much as I'd hate to do it, I probably will be taking a break from Christian forums next year. My Hope with taking a break is that I will have a consistent quiet time and I can contribute better to this community without focus on myself.

Sorry to hear about your rupture plantar fasciitis. Sounds like a big setback but it's good you already have solid plans for your eventual return to the sport.

I read elliptical machine can help you maintain running fitness while you recover from plantar fasciitis but not sure if it's also true for rupture ones.

That's true about social media, it's a huge time waster. I've quit facebook for a long time now. I don't have twitter, instagram, etc. Frees a up a lot of time for more useful things!

I do sprint training on a stationary bike. That's what I do for exercise. Painful! Great for strength and stamina. But I don't actually plan on participating in the sport for real. The speed freaks me out! I also ride a real bike outdoors but the real training always takes place on the stationary bike.

Thanks for the tip but I probably will stick with aqua jogging till the end of October at least. The last 3 weeks seem to have improved things over all for me. Today is the first day that I had to skip out on a workout. I think I'm battling a sinus infection. Mentally I try to focus like I'm running and keep my mind occupied. It helps that they play music and on Fridays I'm traveling to a class where I can see others. What makes me happy is that I'm running but not in pain. The downside is that any Nick or cut you are not supposed to go in the pool. I have a shavers cut on my leg.

It has its negatives and it's positive. For me it gave me a good platform and my workplace for building conversations. But at the same time I didn't realize I had people at work that were talking about me until somebody told me they overheard them at a restaurant talking on their lunch break. But the person who led the conversation just seems to hate a lot of people and always talk negative things. I step back a little bit, put some of the people on break that were part of the conversation and blocked the leader of the group. But time taken is probably the biggest thing of why I want to take a longer break from social media.

It concerns me that your workouts are painful. That doesn't sound like a good workout.

I fell in love with running at the age of 19 when I was in the army. I hated it before I was told that I would be kicked out of the Army if I didn't pass my physical fitness test. Then I made myself run and fell in love with it because of the places I could go and see. I was in West Point, New York at the time, gorgeous place.

Because of Life circumstances I fallen in and out of running, but it has always been my hope to run at the age of 70. 2020 is the first time I put together a training plan. When I was 27 years old I ran my first race which was a whole marathon. I only trained for it a month and a half and had a blister sought off of my big toe and was told not to run it. I had a lot of people who didn't believe in me but I made it in five and a half hours. I got saved also when I was 19 so running and Christ have been a big part of my identity. There was a time I thought running would be taken away when I went through a health crisis in 2011, but returned to consistent running in 2020.

It's not exactly pain but more like dull soreness on my whole body but most of the struggle comes from the huge effort to breathe. Like being choked! And the huge mental struggle to lay down all the power you can put out in 30 seconds to 1 minute. Any lingering soreness goes away completely after couple minutes of recovery.

No way around it in sprint training that's why I limit sprint training to only 3x a week, and easier sessions in between. Even the actual sprint reps are very short, 3 x 30 seconds to 1 minute only. The warm ups and recovery intervals are much longer and takes 30 minutes. This is the only way I can have good endurance on the bike and keep my cardio fitness in tip top shape with very limited time to exercise and sprint reps also cover strength training without having to do weights.

I definitely understand seeing all the beautiful scenery exercising outdoors. On occasions, I ride my bike over the mountains the whole morning. Not as frequently as I'd love to. Wish I could do it everyday but so little time! Nothing beats the natural beauty of God's creations!

I can't imagine running in 5 and a half hours! I've gone that long on my bike a few times without stopping. I can only imagine it's going to be a lot harder doing it running!
