This sings so much about God it might not even be secular:
one love-bob marley lyrics
Much of Marley's material was Rastafarian worship music.

There is this song which changes Jesus.
If you heard a version that mentions "Jesus," then that was the changed version. Harrison wrote this as a Hindu worship tune.

Ah - Tommy James. From Niles MI. I have sung and played guitar in the same studio (WNIL) where he recorded "Hanky Panky." I even knew at least one member of his original band and worked with the brother in law of "Jim" the drummer (mentioned in Hanky Panky).

Here is one of my favorite secular songs that mentions Jesus:

Won't you look down upon me Jesus?
You gotta help me make a stand.
You just got to see me through another day.
My body's achin', and my time is at hand.
I won't make it any other way.

Lets not forget this song..

Fran Smith, The Hooters' bass player was in my sister's band before he was in the Hooters.

He used to carry a jump rope in his bag and jump rope just before he went on. Very cool guy and very good to me when I was just a lowly teenager.

I won't go into detail but living in South Jersey in the 80s and being able to say, "Yeah, I know the Hooters" didn't exactly hurt me with the girls.

"And We Danced" is still one of my favorite songs from the 80s. I love that intro duet with the melodica and the mandolin.
