It works fine, but I am sure that this is not what the sunday times amongst others was refering to. He definately stated that the revelation was "definitive and complete " , (there is no record of that in the link) which was why he ( the pope) was labeled a heretic by a jesuit theologian.

Weird ain't it ?

Are you a Roman Catholic ?

This is the most complete passage I have been able to find so far. I can look around some more. Either the quotes and references I have seen are of another passage I have not yet found or there are drasticly different interprutations than I would make.

These are two sections from the link that I see as discussion the revelation of Christ:

"To remedy this relativistic mentality, the definitive and complete character of Christ's revelation must first of all be emphasized."

"The words, works and entire historical event of Jesus, while being limited as human realities, still have the divine Person of the incarnate Word as their source and therefore contain in themselves the definitive and complete revelation of his saving ways and of the divine mystery itself."

I found a deep facination with Roman Catholicism when dating and did lots of research & took the RCIA class at two different Churches. In reality I was far more facinated with the religion then the guy. :(
I don't really have a distinct definition for myself. For the longest time I have considered myself a witch but I know there must be a more accurate title out there for me if I need one. :)

Navigator6,
Who/what are you??? I have read some of your posts and you are most puzzling.

Boanerge, don’t say "can’t" (actually you said can not in post 17) – omnipotence remember

Actaully God is All power and also All Wise, and he will not play around with His power. Never Does he ever mention ANYTHING about REINCARNATION. Jesus will NOT BE REINCARNATED. Therefore In his Second Coming he is Coming as Jesus Christ, the Word of God, and there is no other. He will not be birthed into AGAIN, in a VIRGIN birth AGAIN to Suffer AGAIN. this has already been fulfilled. Therefore there will be many that say "Here is the Christ, or there is the Christ." Or the christ is born here or there. But do not believe because there is only One messiah.

There is another Messiah. Since Jesus is the Salvation of the Righteous, in Him. There is a Messiah who is the Salvation of the Unrighteous.

In other words the False Messiah is he who wills to undo what Christ has Done.

But know this, The Messiah is Coming, to overcome this "other" Messiah. It has been preordained since the beginning.

The World was Formless and empty, darkness ruled supreme. Then God said 'Let there be Light'. Darkness will be no More. Now in its last attempts to help darkness reclaim the thrown, which it never owned in the first place, The False Messiah will come, the "Anti-Christ" as many know it. Little do the Few followers of the False Messiah know, They preparing The Way for Total Destruction of Man.

For this is the Way of Man.

emphasis on the "will not" instead of "can not". I happen to find that an important distinction.

And, I am hoping there is a connection being made between what you said and what is in the link a few posts back.

"as many know it. Little do the Few followers of the False Messiah know, They preparing The Way for Total Destruction of Man."
The destruction in recent times has all been done by believers in the name of god. If anything will cause the destruction of man it will be religious nut cases who believe all but know of nothing.

Your statement by the pope is dated Friday, 28 January 2000. This is before the event.

The Pope's statement was made on February 2000. The news papers began reporting about the response to his statement in March 2000.

The Sunday Times is reporting on the response by theologians to the Pope's much longer statement.
This is a similar report out of London about the same time:

Roland White London Times 3/12/00 said:
The church is facing a period of unprecedented danger as
reformers attempt to seize the initiative back from the
conservatives at the top of the Catholic hierarchy. According to
top theologians, feuding rightwingers are manipulating the Pope
to the extent of putting statements into his mouth.

Even his grip on doctrine is being prised away. One Jesuit
theologian has accused him of "rank heresy" after a previously
unreported public meeting last month at which the Pope announced
that the revelation of Christ was "definitive and complete", a
view that amazed theologians. According to orthodox doctrine,
the revelation will not be complete until the second coming of
Christ.

Yes the statement that I was refering to was made in february 2000, but the one you gave me a link to gave a date of 28th january 2000. That is why I said that the statement that you had is before the event.
I am glad you have discovered the entire sunday times report, it's good to check facts by yourself. What do you make of it now ?

PS the only statement by the pope that I was ever refering to was that the revelation of Christ was "definitive and complete"

Still trying to gather together the original information. I am a bit of an authenticity fanatic when it comes to documents and such (living history hobby.) Gather then ponder some more. So I will get back to you. (and yeap still going back to the original statement)

Sorry I goofed on the dates. Not like me at all. It is still possible that the speeches where similar. I haven’t found anything in February 2000 besides parts of the Jubillee celebration.

Best of luck with your gathering. You sound similar to me when it comes to getting at the core of the facts. This is one of the reasons why I am a member of the Way,

"Respect you Knowledge, as it is the most important of all things. Without knowledge you shall understand of no thing. You shall die in the darkness for lack of it. Abuse it not for it is the key of life itself that opens all eyes and all portals and it shall show you The Way."

I do think however that this may be a difficult paper trail, as I would guess that there are those that would like to keep this statement as far away from the public gaze as is possible.
