  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Mark 13:32

If only more Christians would keep this verse in mind. No one knows when the end will come except the Father. Why, then, do human beings try to predict it? Speculating on it is really just a waste of time that accomplishes nothing except frightening people. What we really need to focus on is that it will happen, not when it will happen. We need to do what matters, to bring God's Word to others, live good lives, and do good things in preparation for that unknown hour.

"Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion;
shout, O Israel!
Rejoice and exult with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!
The Lord has taken away the judgments against you,
he has cast out your enemies.
The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;
you shall fear evil no more.
On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:
“Do not fear, O Zion;
let not your hands grow weak.
The Lord your God is in your midst,
a warrior who gives victory;
he will rejoice over you with gladness,
he will renew you in his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing
as on a day of festival.
“I will remove disasterd from you,
so that you will not bear reproach for it.
Behold, at that time I will deal
with all your oppressors.
And I will save the lame
and gather the outcast,
and I will change their shame into praise
and renown in all the earth."

I like Matthew 25. It tells us just how important it is to do good works. For the Parable of the Talents, the NAB's footnotes say that it shows how it is good to use your gifts faithfully, and bad to not use them lazily. Matthew 25:31-46 is a wonderful example of how when we do good things to others, we are serving the Lord Himself, and when we neglect others, we are neglecting Him. Help others, serve Him!

The passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus, the Easter story, is one that I have heard many times before too. It's always so sad to hear how cruelly He was treated and how much He suffered for us at His death. Look at just how much He loves us, that He suffered and died so we might have eternal life. But soon after that comes His glorious resurrection, which is always quite joyful to hear about.

by the way, can you give me the title of the bible kind where it has the original type of writing?
analysis:trust me, i tried one time i think legitimately to get into christianity and the first line in John 14, it basically says believe in god and trust in him and that's hard...it's hard for many i hear and see...i can't track that full 'knowing' feeling and so instead i just believe and not 'know' so therefore i am an agnostic. but of course there's a way since there are already christian believers and who knows God. in line 2, where there are many mansions in the house of god, i'd be glad if god or jesus is indeed preparing a personal room, let alone a mansion for me. well, all i gotta say more is that if jesus is the truth and the way to heaven, unless if there's a better truth, i'd snap that chance if there were no other choice...it seems a good deal. thanks for the sharing of your most recent bible passage.

I am sorry, Drifter. The very original manuscripts of the books that compose the Bible as they were - so we Christians believe - first inspired by the Spirit upon human men to write? That I would not know. I find it hard to believe they would even still exist today.

You seem doubtful, sir, if I may say that with all due respect, and are not "certain", such that so far you know only to believe, but do not have that "head knowledge" that Jesus is real and that He is the way to eternal life. Am I understanding this correctly?

All I can tell you is, I am not sure a person can ever truly, truly KNOW, with 100% accuracy. For me, I choose to believe, because I just cannot see it any other way. I cannot imagine life without trusting and believing in Jesus Christ, but I am not going to pretend to be all super religious and claim that I KNOW Him - that He is Son of God and Savior of mankind from its evils and can grant us immortality and forgiveness of sins - to be proven and as real as the things we physically see around us on planet Earth every day. There's a reason it is called faith, and not science, after all. :) And if my beliefs are indeed not in vain, I suppose I will find in the end that it was the Spirit Himself who witnessed to me and caused me to believe as I do now, so perhaps I never actually chose for myself, completely of my own accord, to believe. But rather, because He already proved Himself to me. :angel:

I hope I have not made incorrect or insulting assumptions about you with this post, or rambled on about myself too long?
